Trippster
Novice
Hi all,
Just wanted to post a few updates.
1. Since our last name is Tripp, we decided to name our brand new 550 Ultra the "Trippster" Make sense?
2. We just completed our first overnighter! It took us awhile to do this. First of all we didn't think we would be camping this early in the season. The weather has been incredible as you know! We camped out at Taylorsville Lake State Park, outside Louisville KY, not far from home. Not many campers on a Sunday night. We loved it! We tried out the stove, worked perfectly. The left burner struggled with the high winds we were getting, even with wind screens. Thank goodness for those! The 12v/120v refrigerator was super too! Everything stayed nice and cold. The cabin was comfy, TV was perfect with our stack of old TV show DVDs.
3. All the tips and tricks of this forum paid off very well. We got most things right for a first night, and have a few things to work out the kinks on. But it was an overwhelming success.
4. The bed was a bit hard, but I think we can work that out.
5. The fan was perfect in pulling air in from the windows and venting out.
6. The only pain in the butt, were the 40 mph winds ALL night. Needless to say we did not get much sleep with the noise and movement with the TD.
7. The weather forecast changed to heavier winds and rain after sunrise, so we elected to shorten our overnighter and drive the short distance home. Great idea since we had little sleep anyway.
Our maiden voyage was a success and nobody got hurt! Thanks all for the help!
