We're starting to plan a trip to Alaska and we're looking for trip routing (planning) software. We downloading a 14 day trial version of MS Streets and Trips. So far we like it. It's easy to use and includes POIs, including campgrounds.

Anyone using it and have any comments? Anyone using any other software? We also wanted to look at DeLorme but there was no free trial to test it.

    Thanks,
    Meribeth

Yah, that's a tough one... Looked for several programs, tried the Good Sam one, but not what i was looking for, I want a pretty map.

Sighed up for AAA, mainly for the RV Towing coverage as I do like their "Trip Packs".

Looked at several others, nothing really grabbed my attention.
I was looking for the fastest way to "Knock Off" the lower 48 like the other person's website 50states in 50 days... or whatever.
Haven't found anything really working, KOA has one, but lists only KOA... I started another thread around here, but don't believe got much response...

Will be curios how the MS streets works out..
    I'm still looking heheh...

Hi, Frank. I think that thread had to do with the Good Sam Club (?) We just signed up, mostly because we needed a new Woodall's campground guide before this year's "season," and Camping World had them down to $9.95 with a membership to GSC (for $25). So now we have a 10% off on both Good Sam endorsed campgrounds and KOA campgrounds as well as information about city, state and national campgrounds all in a HUGE book - but we can eliminate some of our other camground guidebooks.

Benn and Meribeth - will be interested to see how you like the MS Streets software.

Yah, got the same book coming (Amazon), and signed up for GSC too.. heheh... great minds etc...
Tried the AAA and might work, but limited to posting campsites, not a whole lot of AAA listed. Will still play with it as it does show the "Hot Spots" of each state..

I'll be calling AAA to see what options they have, but they might be the best bet so far... stay tuned...

I've been usingDeLorme's Topo USA for several years. Used to use their Street Atlas, which would be a more direct comparison to MS. They are both nice, Topo is able to be used with their PN series GPS units, which is why I switched. I'm surprised they don't offer a trial.

In case anyone is looking at the DeLorme Topo USA software, they've got a 2 day sale going on - you can get it for $70...

Thanks Ken ---- but I bought the Streets & Trips today. It was $30 at Amazon.

I've been playing with the trial version for about a week now. I'm not finished with the Alaska routing yet but this software is working well for us. So far I have us routed from Florida north thru the US to Canada at Winnipeg, thru Canada to Alaska, a circle around Alaska, and back into the Yukon. I've added notes for places we might want or need stop along the way -- glaciers, hot springs, Costco in Anchorage, Cabela's in Edmonton for thing we forgot.

I've had only one problem -- leaving the Kenai going to Denali it routed us on the Alaskan ferry.??? There are 2 things I wish they'd add -- a daily mileage total and a calendar date.
