The 10th and final Carnation gathering is in progress now. The weather is gorgeous, the old cars are very cool, and there's still plenty of room in the field. Also, registration is free. I'm a bit surprised to be the lone Camp-Inn among 40 other trailers, so if you are in the area, drop on by. If you like old cars you really don't want to miss this.

One other Camp-Inn did show up. It is owned by an older gentleman named Frank. I figure this must be one of the very first ever built, because it was 4' wide, didn't have a serial #, and was very bare-bones. I'm guessing #4. What do you think, Cary?

Evan,

Was it wood sided, one door? I'm thinking it might be one that was our first 4' demo. If so, I believe it was purchased by a couple here in Wisconsin when it was retired as a demo. They have since sold it. It was #3.

No, it was aluminum sided. Frank is the original owner. I forgot to check the passenger side for a second door, so I'm not sure. It had the same stainless steel fenders as mine does. The kitchen only had a few shelves, no sink.

Ah, I know who it is...somehow I missed it on the list.

That is a 450 Base (front windows, 2 doors, rounded corners) & it is an early model - #8 built in 2002. The 4' wides were discontinued about 5 or so years ago.

A base model then didn't have as much on it as it does now. There are some 4' models even more basic than Frank's.

Cool. What did he think of your "behemoth?" :D

Yes, Frank's was #8. I have had other sightings of him at the Carnation gathering before. Great to see that. Interesting build detail on his. His is the only unit to date with the custom ride height option ordered set to a lowered setting. That thing is down in the weeds!

#8, wow. It was neat to see the 'evolution' of the trailers.
Betsey, Frank looked at my trailer but he didn't say much. I'm not sure what he thought. :)

That's the one. I went to take that picture the next morning but he was already gone.
