Tornado Damage

I haven't posted in a few days due to so much happening in our lives...worst thing is our best friends outside Hot Springs, AR were hit by a tornado 2 days ago and sustained severe damage to their home and rental properties. They own about 26 acres and had 7 rentals and 3 were gone- an infant was killed. 3 renters lost everything- literally! The trees snapped completely off and damed up the river by their house and the rising water almost flooded their house but didn't. Our friend suffered 2 strokes a year ago and can barely walk so he's unae to clean up. He had some insurance but not enough, SO...(here's the good news...)

Our church there closed the school and small Bible College and it was all hands on deck- 40 people showed up yesterday and today, whole families- pizza was donated, bottled water, heavy equipment and that place is almost completely cleaned up! As terrible as it is, I'm so proud of who we are as Christians and Americans. Their financial situation is difficult due to the two strokes and the bad economy so all insurance money is going for materials and volunteers will rebuild! Awesome, huh? Count your blessings folks- so many are so much worse off than we are. God Bless America!

I wish there was a 'like' button, because I would push it. That is so fantastic you all came together to help out. I don't think that is common as it should be. You and your group are amazing!

Evan I like yourike button and quick response!

Sarah- I hope you're wrong- I'd like to think that Americans all over would help their neighbors...I was not able to be there- we're in Texas but will be taking MiniMc in about a week and head that way to see if we can help out. If anyone wants to see the pics I'm on FB- Linda McMillan- I'll accept requests.

Linda, what a story. We don't hear about those types of responses enough, but I'm sure that's the way most communities react in such circumstances. Our thoughts are with them.

Linda,
I hope and pray the love demonstrated by your church community will spread across the south today - so many have died and so many lives are devastated by the tonado distruction. We in Minnesota are bemoaning our cool wet spring but it is nothing compared to the trouble a tornado brings. Blessings on your trip to Arkansas.

Our prayers are with all who suffered. We saw so much devastation a year ago, during the flood. We may carry the moniker Volunteer State, but volunteers are in every state.
Steve

Linda, your friend is so blessed to have you and the church community by their side. Our family outside of Nashville went through the floods awhile back. All the folks helping each other in even the smallest of ways made a difference. Our prayers are with you on your journey. May your friend and others in the area find comfort and hope during this challenging time. Best wishes.
