Title/Registration

Our state does not require a title or tags for trailers under 2,000 lb., but will do it if desired.

What's been the experience of folks who pull a TD w/o a tag? Does it invite stops by law enforcement?

Wisconsin doesn't require titling or registration, either. Have never found it to be a problem and our tear has traveled many miles over many years through most of the lower 48 and Canada.

Of course, there is always someone who will get stopped and it may cause a stir with law enforcement, but it shouldn't

It's not indianas job to enforce laws for Wisconsin.....I think even if you got stopped it would be more of an inconvenience, finding out where you are from and sending you on your way....

I might be tempted to leave the camp-inn "plate" in place just to give the casual observer something to look at....because he doesn't necessarily know the vehicle is from a place that doesn't require plates, he could pull you over thinking you were from his own state.

Another thought would be to carry your states code showing plates aren't required....cops have been becoming increasingly totalitarian lately. As a ham radio operator, I am allowed to have radios in my car that a non amateur operator can't...a friend who customarily uses this privileges keeps the pertenant law taped in the battery compartment of his radios. He said it saved him a couple times.

Tags? We don't need no stinking tags.

Personally, I'd get a tag and try to prevent any "encounters" with LEO. They might find the portable meth lab in the galley.

 

if pulled over by cops just be polite and respectful -it will go a long way....if you start your conversation with "why you pulling me over for" you will get one and it will be up to you to fight the ticket in court

 

I'm always polite and respectful. But they always look at me funny when I ask, "What seems to be the officer, problem?"
