Itinerary Tbtr 5 (tears By The River)

Discussion in 'Gatherings' started by jerry and tina, Mar 7, 2012.

  1. TEARS BY THE RIVER 5

It's that time again....We will be hosting TBTR5 on September 6-9th @ Thomson Causeway in Thomson, Ilinois.

Thomson Causeway is run by the Core of Engineer on the Mississippi River. This campground fills up fast. The cost is still only $16 per night.

To see more about this park and/or reserve just go to:http://www.recreation.gov/ and type Thomson Causeway in the park or facility name.

We are in site #87 River Loop.

  4. Wonderful! You are most certainly welcome. Please don't worry about bringing anything to eat as there is always so much food at the gathering, no one goes away hungry. :)

  6. That's great Joe! Looking forward to seeing you again. If you arrive in the area early or plan on staying later, let us know. We have campfire wood and/or even a place for you to stay if needed a night or two. When it gets closer, I'll message you our cell number if needed.

  8. I can still remember the wait, even 6 years later :)
We ordered ours in June 05 after much looking/researching(wish this forum had existed for us back then)and were slotted to pick it up the next May, yup 11 months! We were so thrilled when we received a call to see if we wanted it in April. At the time we still had our popup to use for the summer - or so we thought. Put it up for sale, thinking it wouldn't sell at all. Long story short it sold in 2 weeks and we were back in a tent for the rest of the year.

Becky - start a bucket list of places you want to go. The trips we enjoy most are the ones with the least planning. Just know the general direction or destination, then we stop and go whenever & where ever. We've done a couple trips like that now, one to florida and last year coming home from Crossroads when we went up Michigan and across the UP. Only real destination was to be back home by a certain day and we looked ahead on the map each night to see/plan for the next day.

    Jerry and Tina,
Becky and I just made our reservations for Friday and Sat. night site # 98
Could you please let us know what we could/should bring to share. This will be our first group camp with Tears.
We won't have our CI till Oct. So don't kick us out for having a tent.

  11. Nice to hear that you are able to attend both nights! And you are most welcome tent and all.

We usually do a potluck on Saturday night but in the past have never worried about a sign up list and have always had a great variety of foods. Lots of DO cooks but no pressure on you to do this. Make it easy on yourself and bring something you like to eat. EX: special bread, salad, desert or appetizers. No one has ever walked away saying they were still hungry. :)

  12. It's getting closer....

Just thought we'd post the official supper time for Saturday night potluck as I know many will ask and no one
will want to make the offical call....

Saturday Night Potluck will be at 6:30 pm

this way those that want to wander about for the day sight-seeing or doing the garage sale thing don't have
    to hurry back to cook.

At this moment we (Jerry & I) are planning to stick around camp on saturday as we are going to cook a couple
roast over the fire on our "spit" for supper.

    See everyone soon!

You're site will be fine...6pm arrival is pretty early for many people, depending on how far they are coming & when they are able to leave.

  18. Had a great weekend! It was nice meeting up with "old" friends and making some new ones!!! The weather was brisk but the food and companionship was outstanding. We filled the loop (19)and had overflow (3)in another...

Al & Annie - it was a nice surprise to see you come! Love your little "2 peas in a pod".

Dave & Becky - it was super to meet up with you guys! The countdown is on for your "Depot" and you have such a nice start to your collection of things for it already.

Look forward to camping with you both again!
