SUV Off-Road Suv Option

Hi!

Has anybody ordered the SUV option? We did as it offers 3" additional height, but I am wondering how that is achieved...is it larger tires? We like the added height to keep us from bumping our heads against the galley hatch, plus it raises the galley counter higher. And for off-roading too. What do you all have to say? Thanks!
Diane

I have the SUV height, but we have 2 trucks, so we needed it. My first tow vehicle was a sports wagon, so we switched the hitch and no problem. I like having the extra height because I can get in and out of the cabin easier. I am a little more than 5'5, but I appreciate it. The counter height and reaching back, when parked on a hill had me feeling a bit like I was a kid again, bit it all worked out. No regrets.

Diane,

I would check with Cary but I believe they use a different axle to achieve the added height.

The SUV option, compared to the standard, includes a larger section tire (on the same size wheel) and the axle, though rated the same, has the trailing arms mounted at a slightly different angle to raise the height.

Thanks to you all for your responses. Rotus8, my husband totally understood what you wrote about trailing arms etc. I got the part about the tire and axle! Happy trails!

Even though I am on the shorter side, I love the SUV height. Extra height is great when using the galley.

There is a photo of Evan somewhere on the forum where he is standing next to a "non" SUV height Camp Inn rental....
What a difference a few inches makes!

Same here short but like the height especially when cooking and like Jenn said when sitting in the doorway. Also the side tent must be a better fit with the extra height we never use the back two peg out points even with the extra height we would have to be seriously jacked up for that to happen.
