Speakers Small Entertainment Center

Kenster

Newbie
Is there an entertainment center option that pleases the minimalist. One that has no 15in TV with DVD/CD player, but one that has simply an iPod charging station? It seems that iPods or similar portable flash drive devices are the future of audio listening. So why not an iPod charging connection inside your Camp Inn? I believe it would require little power consumption.
Or if your not a minimalist, how about a car type radio/cd player with an iPod connecting jack and a set of interior speakers (think you still would need a iPod charging station). Why would one need powered speakers if installing a car type radio/cd player? The interior speakers would not have to be very large because of the tight interior space. This way one could listen to the radio (news/weather), play CD's (audio or books on tape), or plug in their iPod (music or videos). I would assume this type of sound system would be powered by the 12V power system in the Camp Inn. I don't know how much power consumption this system would take?

Take a look at the custom stereo with iPod dock that the folks at Camp-Inn did for me. The amp and speakers are all 12v car stereo equipment. The iPod dock required a bit a customizing to make it work. If I did it again, I would use a car stereo head with a built in amp - perhaps one of the new ones that has an input for an iPod. This would have simplified the installation significantly.

We use our Bose cd/radio - set it on the shelf in the cabin and dock our ipod via a simple input output cord. We are minimalists and it works fine for us. We stash it on the bed while traveling.
