Slow it down

For those that think low on their Fan-Tastic vent fan is still a little too high, here's how to slow it down.

Buy a 10 Watt 4 OHM resistor at Radio Shack. Put it in line just before the motor (red or blue wire) under the vent cover & strap it down with a zip strap. It will slow the fan down about 15% and it will be about 30% quieter.

The word is if you use a 12V to 6V reducer such as a V1, the motor will meet an early demise, but the resister won't hurt the motor.

With the air temp at 77o the resister got up to 98o after 2 hours on medium. 87o after an hour on low. The air flow keeps it cool.

This past weekend we discovered how quiet the fan really is on low with the above change. We had been using the AC for the past few months. We could now hear the crickets, katydids, waves when a boat went by, barking dogs and train whistles really well! It was fantastic.

PS: This will not void the Fan-Tastic fans warranty.
