Inquiry Showers At Castle Rock Park For Gathering

Whittaker

Newbie
Does anyone know what the showers are like at the CICO this year? This will be our first experience there. We are renting from Camp Inn to be able to attend the gathering before we order our raindrop. Just wondering if shower shoes are warranted and if there are hooks to hang your clothes and toiletries up? Thanks folks, looking forward to meeting all that attend next weekend.

Hi Whitt! Welcome to the forum, and welcome to the world of Camp Inn. I was EXACTLY in your shoes last year - I rented the Camp Inn 560 Raindrop to see what it was all about.

The showers and bath house are perfectly fine by campground standards - clean interior, plenty of counter space to spread out toiletries at the sink area, outlets to plug in razors. The showers each have their own private changing area that is separate from the actual shower. There were hooks as well as benches in the ones that I used last year. They were as clean as you might want them to be, but I always use flip flops myself anyway.

Two things to keep in mind:

1) The showers take quarters to operate. This was a new experience for me as Michigan county and state campgrounds have "free" showers. I can't remember how much time each quarter buys. I do remember initially making it a personal challenge to complete my shower in one quarter's time. I succeeded, but then the next day decided to whoop it up big time and allow myself TWO quarters for my shower.

2) The road I had to walk to between my campsite and the shower house was a dirt road with much loose sandy soil. If I wore flip-flops or my Keenes, I always seemed to kick a cloud of dust onto my damp feet. By the time I reached my campsite, I pretty much had to re-wash my feet. I tried alternative routes back to my campsite, and then finally (like #1 above) gave in to the situation and just re-washed my feet back at my trailer with the sink's spray hose pulled out to full length.

Have fun - I look forward to meeting you.

Thank you Rick! Not only for sufficiently answering my question, but for the extra tips. You sound very humorous & someone to share a laugh or two with. Looking forward to meeting you as well!

PS: are you happy w/ your trailer & experience at CICO?

I believe the shower house is not heated or cooled, so can be cool.

Always wear shower shoes in any public shower house. Protect your feet or protect the rest of us from annoying foot fungus.

The soil is sandy, so your feet will always be dirty!

There is only one shower building in the campground. Various pit toilets.
