Itinerary Salisbury State Reservation Turkey Camp, Oct. 21-2

Sorry for the short notice but I have only just joined this forum. Next weekend there is a multi-forum camp out in Salisbury, MA at the Salisbury State Reservation. Many different types/sizes/vintages of campers are expected, brought there by some really nice folk. Fri evening ice breaker wine & cheese, campfire, Sat AM brunch, afternoon pumpkin carving contest, group photo, Sat evening potluck Turkey Dinner, Yankee Swap and campfire, and Sun AM continental breakfast.
There is a multitude of things to see and do in the area or simply hang out at the campground and walk the beach!
RSVP hrowell22@verizon.net Hope to see you there!

Hi, we are new to the forum and are interested in coming to the Salisbury
gathering. Do we need reservations or to know any particular details?
Thanks, we are looking forward to attending!

This is what I got from Heidi. She did say that after 4 PM there would be no one at the park to take money so just find a spot and some one would come around in the morning to check you in.
See you there!
Bruce

Whew!

Took a while to gather all the info but at long last here it is! If you don't see
yourself or others you know on the list please email me and I will add them! Info on
a few folks is a bit incomplete, so if you can fill in the blanks please do!

So far we are up to 49 souls. Please don't make green bean casserole for 50 - not
everybody will want some (although I don't know why not...) but you see what I'm
getting at here. Everybody will want stuffing and basics like that so we will need
a bunch. Never been at a pot luck where we have run out of food yet! Usually we have
enough to feed a large army!

Looking for helpers with set up/clean up, etc all weekend, so if you have not
volunteered for "Team Turkey" we hope you will! Never been at a camp out where there
were not enough helping hands!

Tentative schedule:

Fri evening - "juice" and cheese social-juice of the fermented kind. Technically
this is a dry camp ground, but I have not heard of an issue with discreet drinking
and there will not be an employee in the park after the office closes at 4 so...
campfire

Sat morning brunch - breakfast-eggs, bacon and the rest!

Sat afternoon - pumpkin carving contest (if there is enough interest) with prizes!
pot luck set up
group photo

Sat night - the big Turkey pot luck
yankee swap
campfire

Sun AM - continental breakfast with left overs from the pot luck? Coffee and...
breakdown

Firewood: Saw plenty of firewood at the camp ground with no hassles from the
management. Bring wood but be discreet, keep it in your vehicle or a box, kiln dried
wood no problem. Cut offs, construction wood, pallet wood, etc. If most everybody
brings some then we will have plenty! If you don't have access to wood don't worry.
Never been at a camp out where there wasn't enough camp fire wood!

Pot luck suggestions:
2 gallons cider/cups, pies, green veggie, breads, salad, any traditional
Thanksgiving family recipe, OR snacks/wine for the juice/cheese on Fri
Somebody is bringing cranberry bread - pls remind me for the list

Next week I will send out another email with further details, but pls email me if
you have any questions before then.

CAN'T WAIT!!

Is is OK if we just stay Friday night and stay late into the day but leave on Sat afternoon? I have to work on Sunday. We can bring some yummy VT Cheddar for the wine and cheese event!
Annie

Annie,
I'm not the one who set this outing up and it is the first time we have gone but I can't see why you can't stay for 1 night. I know Heidi and some of the scotty group and I'm sure they would love your company if just for 1 night.
