Our Favorite Things!

With our 550-Ultra being at the very top of our list, here are some things that work well for us while camping:

1. ShamWow! is a campers friend! We bought the bargain sized 16 count box at Costco. We put the large orange ones in the front windows overnight, to absorb condensation. They are also great for drying off your tent after a rainfall, before stowing. The thinner blue ones make nice dish towels, and are also good for wiping up condensation in the cabin.

2. As per Cary's suggestion, a spray bottle of stainless steel cleaner works wonders on the kitchen countertops.

3. Eagle Creek clothes packing system: Jim found a great online deal on these a few years back. They are great for packing and stowing clothes in the Camp-Inn. Each pack it cube can hold an entire outfit, and serves as a mini suitcase for carrying a change of clothes to the bath house.

4. Collapsible trash can from Harbor Freight is sturdy and conveniently sets up under cooler table.

5. Collapsible silicon colanders are the way to go.

6. Cast Iron is excellent for camp cooking.

7. Found a bagged set of 8 nylon utensils at Evan's "place whose name we do not mention", for under $4. They nest together and take up minimal drawer space, considering the amount of utensils.

8. GSI Infinity Deluxe (4 pc.) Table Set. Really conserves cabinet space-square plates stand on their side without rolling. Bowls have lids, two sized cups- one is insulated and has a snap on lid.

9. We mounted a small wastebasket found in the automotive section at K-Mart on the side wall of the cabin, very handy!

We have a fold'n'go Colman BBQ. Picked it up at Sam's club last year with a fabric case at a great price. It cooks great and tucks in under the sink (far left bottom storage.

We took an example from the Eastmans and mounted a paper towel holder on the hatch cover , so the towels ride over the sink when traveling. -ours is teak marine one we got gratis from another boater. A chunk of velcro makes a handy way to prevent towels from streaming in the wind.

That's a pretty nice looking grill, but I've rediscovered the
George Forman electric grill and use it almost daily in my kitchen. I'm just going to throw that little baby in the Raindrop when we get it. We don't ever plan on camping where we don't have electricity - no boondocking for us, so we save propane and get great taste.

Already have the collapsible trash can - yep, it goes under the cooler table - and goes with the cast iron while traveling.

We have the collapsible colander along with matching collapsible bowls of various sizes.

We'd been filling up our empty mugs (on the beverage holders) for trash in the cabin.

 

We used the ShamWows on the last trip - worked great.
Does anybody know if they can go through the dryer? (the box says 'machine washable' but nothing about drying)

 

No ...no dryer...they don't absorb as well if they go in the dryer.

 

Charlie & Bernice are right....my instruction sheet says in red letters-IMPORTANT: DO NOT place Shamwow! towels in the automatice dryer. Also, don't use fabric softener when washing.

FYI Evan- I'm headed to the post office to get your knife rack in the mail!
