Northern Breeze 12 x 12 or 10 x 10

We have virtually settled on purchasing a Northern Breeze instead of a pop up canopy as living in Nova Scotia we suffer from the dreaded black fly and mossies so we want the extra protection.

The Northern Breeze is available in two sizes 12 x 12 and 10 x 10. There is no difference in pack size and a 4 lb weight difference between the two models.

Is the 10 x 10 sufficient width and depth to provides coverage to the hatch without rainwater entering and still allow enough living space for chairs and a small table and is there enough width to allow rear exit down the sides around the tables when the kitchen is fully set up.

We have the 12 x 12 and like the amount of space to the right and left of the tear. I can't picture a foot less on each side as a plus. It might work but I think the 12 x 12 gives more options. You could take the width of the trailer and subtract that from the 10' and see how much space you would have. Remember that the sides that are pulled over the tear is attached at the top edge so it is like pulling back a curtain that does not slide on a rod. I have been toying with the idea of figuring a way to put a zipper at the top edge to make it work like a curtain that slides on a rod but so far think it is a bigger job than I want to tackle. It does not bother me enough.

Interesting the specification says its a three way zipper so the doors can be pulled right out of the way.

I wanted to be able to have the awning extended over the CI to give a bit more side protection but still have the netting in place for insect protection.

We have some additional netting from another Gazebo so we could use this.

Can the netting be rolled up or just pulled back like a curtain?

Barry,
If you remember in New Hampshire last year the screen room we have is a 10 x 10 although not a Northern Breeze.

Thanks Bruce yes I do remember so I think I want the 12 x 12 as I want to be able to shut the rear exit and drop the flaps for warmth and privacy but still be able to get to the CI down the sides.

I am also going to purchase the Northern Breeze. For those of you with the Northern Breeze, did you get the floor as well or do you use something else?

Barry,
I thought that might help. We had a larger one with our first trailer and the extra room was nice but with the 2 side tents we deceided we could get by with the smaller one.

The screens can be rolled up so the zippers are on the center and side (maybe the new ones also have a zipper on the top).
We have a floor but only used it once the other sites we were at didn't need it. It worked well for us when needed. We store it in one of the areas under the mattress - so we always have it but don't have to pull it out if not needed.

So we could roll the screens up out of the way and install a line between the two sides to carry a mesh netting we already use on a home Gazebo to act as curtains easily moved out of the way.

FYI-we just ordered ours and it is on it's way. The cheapest we found it was through www.amazon.com. I think it was $349. That is without the floor, but they do have that too. Just thought I would let you know, in case you were looking too (to the group). We got the 12x12.

I agree with Pat. We don't have the floor and I just don't think we have wanted it. I like the ground under our feet. If we are cooking, washing dishes, or eating, spills don't matter. No floor to sweep. It dries quicker. I just don't like walking on the floor of a tent. I seem to think about the twigs and stones that work hard on the material of the floor.
I think ours is 12X12. We don't seem to want for more space. Plenty of room for table, chairs, ice chest and action packers.

I purchased mine from Campmor for about $350 plus free shipping. Received within 4 days after ordering.

I got my Northern Breeze but will not have an opportunity to set it up until this weekend. I have opened the boxes but not really fully unpacked it. I have not been able to locate any instructions. Are they wrapped up with the screen room or somewhere with the poles.

I have erected it twice. Once in garage and second time a month ago. Will take this weekend, don't know if it will be used.

Now packing is more difficult then erecting. Last time a friend and I folded and put away.

This is what we did:
Folded sides flat onto roof, then into thirds and rolled. Went so quickly with two people.

I have been using the Northern Breeze for many years and never folded it. Just stuff it into bag! It can be set up and taken down quickly by one person if you practice enough!

Matt,

Your my hero today telling me that I will successfully be able to set up and take down by myself. Wish you could come to give advice.

Jean
