UT National Park North (bryce Canyon Np)

Discussion in 'West' started by Warren Mary Ellen, Jul 5, 2016.

  1. Large campground in Bryce and the closest to the Visitor Center and the Rim of the canyon. Loop C has sites closest to the rim. Loop A is paved and has a brand new bathroom with a dish washing sink. It has a lot of shade. There is a path to the Visitor Center where you can access the park's shuttle buses. There is paved bike/rec trail which is both in the park and extends all the way to the Red Canyon area of the nearby National Forest. Loops B, C, & D are a gravel roads and can be dusty. One of the 2 campground hosts is a former Camp Inn owner and is now in an Airstream. I don't remember his name but he is a nice guy.

You can be on a hike in the canyon in minutes from this campground or just catch the sunrise at Sunrise Point (10 minutes from Loop A). Sunset Point is a little further. Showers and Laundry are at the General Store which is near the lodge, 5 minutes by car, 10 minutes by bike & 20 minutes on foot. Food prices at General store were better than the store at Ruby's Inn outside the park. There is another store we liked too next to Foster's Restaurant and this grocery has a bakery in the back.

If you are up to hiking into the Canyon try the Queen's Garden Trail and return to the top on the Navajo Loop Trail. Bristlecone Loop is a good trail with nice views.
