New Camper

Just went to Necedah last weekend to see the "factory" very impressed!!! Came home and checked on a few things...Insurance storage costs in winter..etc. Last Fri we ordered our Ultra 550... now we can't wait to take our first trip. Over 30 years ago we took our daughter tent camping with a playpen.... and recently went camping with her family (including 2 grandkids) in their Pop-up (yes there were 6 of us) in Buena Vista CO near her home and got re-inspired.
Any sugestions for a first camp when we pick up Our Camp-Inn?

Any campground will be enjoyable because of the new 550! Wyalusing State Park south of Prarie du Chien offers fantastic views of Mississippi River. Heck make a trip up the North Shore of Lake Superior north of Duluth!

Northern UP offers beautiful views.

You have to decide your plans, and go from there.

Welcome, Dave & Rene. You've made a great choice with the 550. I've heard lots of good things about Wyalusing - there are some photos of it here on the board. When do you expect to pick yours up?

 

We are expecting may or june but haven't been put on the prod. sched yet. Thanks for the sugestion. May be a bit ambitious but are thinking all or part of Route 66 in the near future.

We spent our first two nights at Derge Park in Bever Dam, WI June 1st of '08. A nice quiet campground that gave us time to load the tear and get our act together with shopping and restaurants close by, not to mention being in range of Camp-Inn. The campers there were stand-offish so we didn't have to spend the day doing show & tell. Then we stopped at Camp-Inn on our way North to get more face to face before going around the Great Lakes to head home. Early June was a great time to go through Canada.

Route 66 sounds fun. Lena and I have talked about how much fun that would be to drive/camp it as part of a teardrop caravan.

So, Ahoy Mates - am I right in guessing that you are going to go with a nautical theme for your teardrop? Got a name picked out yet?

 

We haven't thought of a name yet or a theme but now you have us thinking. Good suggestion.

No but as a former teacher the last name of Hoy got a lot of abuse, Chips Ahoy...Ahoy Mates..
Later we had a graphics business and tacked an A to our last name to get better phonebook position. Although sailing has always looked like fun.

Congradulations! For your camping on the way home, there is the Great River Road along the Mississippi River with many US Army Corp of Engineers parks and the lock and dam sites to visit plus tons of history. You can meander south along beautiful bluffs with many camping spots on both sides of the River till you get south enough to avoid Chicago on the ride back to Ohio. Its about the journey now!
