Our spring trip: we packed up our Suite Retreat in 37 degree temps and headed to Tucson, AZ to get a break from the cold during our schools spring break. We traveled 3050+ miles, stayed in 6 different campgrounds and saw a lot of geography. The best campground was Catalina State Park in Tucson. It was beautiful, peaceful, friendly and hot in the day and cool at night. The sites are good sized so we did not feel closed in by the big rigs. Our most surprisingly beautiful drive was from Tucson to Globe and on to Holbrook where we stayed in a small hot, dusty, windy campground. Got up early the next morning and went to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert - beautiful and awe inspiring.
From there the wind never stopped tumble weeds, dust devils, dust storms till we got back to Minnesota. Rest stops were a challenge to stay on ones feet and I made the mistake of opening the galley to retrieve something and a gust of merciless wind caught the hatch and splintered the arm that holds the hatch open. I shut it carefully and will have to access the damage later today.
Back home and still have piles of icy snow in the yard but spring cannot be far off. We are so pleased that our 550 made it possible to heat up our winter weary bones.
