Only our 2nd outing of the year, we spent Mon-Wed up near the Dells at Mirror Lake State Park. The forecast was for upper 50's-low 60's and no rain. The reality was cold with rain/snow mix. Surprisingly, we were the only campers in the entire campground. Got a little bit of hiking in, visited a few of the nearby reliable antique/thrift stores, and had dinner at a favorite spot in Baraboo.
Better weather is on the way, better weather is on the way, ...

    Ken,

We are going to stay in Baraboo the night before we pick up our camper. Can you let me know the name of the 'favorite spot in Baraboo?'

    Thanks

Hi Joan. It's the Little Village Cafe right on the town square. We had eaten there oh, about 35 years ago on a weekend skiing trip when we were dating. It was a greasy spoon then, with a lot of character. Now it's a great place for dinner, and their pies are not to be missed.

Since you will be in the area and asked about favorite spots, there is one that jumps right to the top:

    Forevertron

    Address:
    US 12, North Freedom, WI
    Directions:
On U.S. 12, about five miles south of Baraboo, behind Delaney's Surplus, across the highway from the Badger Army Ammunition Plant.
    Admission:
    Free.
    Hours:
    M, Th, Fri, Sa 9 am - 5 pm, Su 12 - 5 pm. (Call to verify)
    Phone:
    608-219-7830

Google Forevertron to learn about an interesting piece of American Roadside Amarakana.

Our favorite spot to stop in Baraboo is the Log Cabin Restaurant. (On Hwy. 33, just east of downtown.)Everything is delicious. I am partial to their country fried/chicken fried steak. They have wonderful pies and breads. In fact, a friend of my mother-in-law's does a run up to Baraboo from Milwaukee, for her about once a month for her favorite breads. It's well worth the visit!

Well, it's finally here, we leave Tue AM, stay overnight in Madison and Wed. 9:00 get to touch Joy Ahoy as we have named her. After our thorough briefing and education from Cary, Craig and the able staff of Camp-Inn, we will Load all the stuff we have accumulated...(what have we forgotten?)... and head to Devil's Lake for the first night...finally, it seemed it would never come ;). Actually they were done a few weeks ago but we couldn't come till now.
After the 1st night its off to Wyalusing, Rock Cut, IL and 2 nights at Turkey Run in Indiana and back to Ohio. Weather temps are predicted to be tolerable, Rain? 60 to 80% sun showers ;). Will report when back...over and out.

Glad you enjoyed the Little Village Cafe. Congrats on finally taking possession of your new trailer! Looks like you've got a couple of good weather days ahead to enjoy it, too. Have a safe, fun trip.
