Maiden Voyage for our 550 Ultra

We just returned from our first trip in our 550 Ultra. We were happy to join up with Evan, Lena and Katie (fantastic family)at La Wis Wis campground in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest just outside Packwood WA.

We were not disappointed with our new camper and were equally thrilled to enjoy a weekend with Evan's family.

Here's just a few photos of our adventure.

A light hike at Ohanapecosh took us to Silver Falls.

George,
You guys look great. I bet you turned several heads with the CI line-up. One thing I found I liked is the aroma of the wood finish. It is something that reminds me of our first time out. What are you normal temps? I see Liisa maybe, in a jacket.
I have put our unit up for July and August. It is just too hot. 95-100 deg. F. day after day after day.
We have several days planned in Sept.
Enjoy, Steve

George,
It looks like a fun trip with beautiful scenery and good companions to camp with! How did you like towing with the Tribeca? I hope you have another trip planned soon!
Charlie

The nice thing about living in the Yakima area is we are only 1-1/2 hrs away from Mt. Rainier National Park. While the temperatures at home have been in the 100's, the mountain were about 85 degrees this weekend during the day and cooled to the mid 50's during the evening. Our camp was only yards away from the Cowlitz river which helped with the temperatures. The picture of my wife, Liisa, with the jacket was taken before breakfast.

If any of you get an opportunity to camp with Evan and his family, don't hesitate. They are gracious, extremely helpful and enjoyable people to spend a weekend with.

The 550 and 560 were a blast to be paired together at the same site because they were people magnets. Strangers would come into camp and ask if they could see them both. We were more than pleased to show off the new family addition. I have to admit that I was very impressed with the 560. The pictures on the Camp-Inn site just do not do the trailer justice.

The Tribeca handled the 550 like a champ. Even though we went over a mountain pass to get there, I did not feel lugged down at any point. The sport shift suggestion was a huge help.

Regarding our next trip, I'm afraid we'll have to wait till next weekend for another trip out.

Very pretty photos. I'll bet you had visitors, and I'll bet the brochures were handed out. Great you could team up with an experienced family for your 1st camp. I'm jealous!

That's a nice looking campground. I've been meaning to make it to Mt. Rainier for a couple years now (it's not too far, I live in Spokane) but it just hasn't happened. My wife and I love to camp but our boys are very young (2.5 yrs and 8 mo) and tent camping is lot of work with the little guys. That's why I'm looking to get a 560 for next spring/summer. Hopefully we will get out a lot more then.

I was planning to go camping at Mt. Spokane next weekend, maybe I can talk my wife into going to Mt. Rainier instead!

I hauled around a 26ft. Nash for a few years. It was a beautiful camper but I hated hauling it, trying to find a location and watching the fuel gauge move quicker than the speedometer. Rarely did I have anyone ask, "Could we see your trailer?" Even when someone would ask, I was leery of letting someone into the trailer. The 550 is just the opposite, if someone commented on the trailer I was inviting them to take a look. I'm hooked. I am a tear drop junkie.

I know Evan handed a brochure to someone who seemed very very interested in the trailers.

Hey everybody - we're back. We had a great time with GeorgeJ and family - then we headed east and ended up near Spokane for 4 days. Isn't that terrible, mewton? We could have given you the deluxe tour if we had known. :(

My "maiden" voyage will happen this weekend. Luckily Camp-Inn is 3 hours from Rochester, Mn. I am renting the 560 for 4 days staying at Frontinac State Park near Lake City, Minnesota. Then renting the 550 7 days late September for a geocaching vacation near the Black Hills. Oh, I am so excited to experience teardrop camping. Not so sure about backing up, but oh, well, new skills to learn.

Hi Jean,
I know you will have a very enjoyable time camping with the Camp-Inn! Be sure to let us all know how it goes.
Good Luck,
Charlie

If the dates are on the calender before other stuff clutters it up, some of us Californians would love an excuse to head up north! i.e., I already know the first 2 weeks of August would not work.

I found some pictures on our camera of this trip last summer.
Hopefully they will help us all getting thinking about spending time in warm weather and tiny campers...

This is our 560 next to Jorge's new 550.

Uff Da Inns 2011 maiden voyage will occur March 24. Coming out of the garage to Southern Illinios for a major geocaching event called MOGA.

Yesterday left from Rochester, Mn with way too much snow, feels like I spent yeard driving thru Illinois. Gee great to see no snow by the time we were half way thur Illinois.

Currenlty I am in Gainsville, Florida visiting my mother. No snow here, but there was frost.

Any, I return home March 19, and leave again on March 25 for 2011 maiden voyage.

Jean
