Made it to Maine

Spent an interesting evening at a state park in Ohio where a Mennonite family was fascinated by the Tin Toad. Fun conversation. After a delightful week in Frederick, MD (Gambril State Park -- highly recommend) we made our way into New England. We passed the 5,000 mile mark for this trip and 25,000 cumulative marker as we crossed the Vermont border -- my home state. Seemed fitting.

Participated in the Cadillac Parade in Barton, Vermont on 8/17. Smashed the Guinness record for largest parade (was 102 is now 298) while honoring the founder of Cadillac, Henry Leland, in his boyhood home. Sally and I were parade Grand Marshalls and got to lead the Cadillac convoy sitting on the back of a 1959 pink Cadillac convertible -- think Elvis. Fun event and better attended than the tractor pulls!

We left Vermont for Maine before Irene arrived. Maine was supposed to get hit harder than Vermont but Mother Nature had other ideas. Currently in Freeport, Maine -- home of LL Bean, and will hover here for awhile before starting the trek back to San Diego.

A few pictures attached -- LL Bean; the handles on one of the stores on the LL Bean campus (notice, no locks -- they're open 24/7 365 days per year so no need for locks on doors): Cook's Lobster House-- entrance and view from restaurant with Irene 24 hours away. Lots more pictures but can't upload any from my camera, just my phone.
