Labor Day Weekend Adventure

Below is the only picture that I was able to take before we were forced to evacuate due to a forest fire:

Lessons Learned:

Be careful about where you choose to turn around when you make that wrong turn. Fortunately, no damage was done.

Pull over and check out the campground layout before you find yourself stuck in the day use area. I really need to learn how to backup. Thank goodness the CI can be unhitched, turned around and rehitched. And THANK GOD for the hand brake.

The Northern Breeze can be set up by one person. The key is to stake down one pole and attach the roof clips first.

It takes a lot less time to break camp than it is to set it up when you're motivated.

I guess I will have to address the mole issue in the backyard this weekend.

Oh well, I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Wow, Joan. Where were you camping? We'll be picking up our trailer September 19 and I suspect we'll have similar challenges. Thanks for sharing! Kathy

We are home safe and sound. The campground was only 65 miles away. We were at the Lost Creek Campground in Mount Hood national forest. It is a really nice campground.

I knew about the fire but it was not suppose to be near us. The wind changed and everything got very smoky with ash raining down. Back home in Beaverton you can smell the fire and Mt. Hood is 70 miles away.

There was also a fire in SW Portland that had us breathing smoke and we have ash on the car (the hills were hiding behind the smoke). There is a lot of field burning going on right now too (we saw a lot of it being set near Salem). Glad you all are safe! I really want to get out to Lost Lake. We have heard great things (when there aren't fires).

My goodness - and you were set up so nice. It seems like every fury of nature has had its hay day this year.

Jenn, I have been enjoying reading your posts and envy that you are able to do what you are doing, especially in a Camp-Inn. I just hope that you don't think that ALL men/husbands are irritable. :)May you continue to enjoy your travels in this awesome country as much or more as my fun, pretty and not irritable wife and I have! We just finished a 15 day trip from Maine to the Southwest Canyons and back!
