I will be the proud owner of a new 560 Ultra, but it will take until July to receive based on build schedule.

I retired again (second time) and looking forward to lots of travels: 1) National Parks, 2) Family (spread all over), 3) Genealogy Research, and 4) 4 wheeling on Colorado mining trails and around Moab (non-extreme). On the last, the Camp-Inn will be in an RV Park during trail adventures.

I wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving.

Welcome, I am sure you will love your trailer, these things are truly works of art and by far the best built trailer I saw after tons of research.

Interesting you bring up genealogy, my dad has spent years digging up our family history and it's pretty interesting to find out some of the things in that family tree.

It turns out that we had 3 members come over on the Mayflower. Apparently one of our ancestors was the first person to ever drive a locomotive in England. Another was a court jester, another was related to King Frederick and still another to Charlemagne. I think it was a mistake to tell my daughter that she had royal blood flowing in her veins as she already had a princess syndrome and I think this just made it worse. LOL.

Hello & Welcome! Congratulations on your soon to be 560 Ultra! We have had our 560 for just over a year & have traveled 3800+ miles and absolutely love it!

What type of 4 wheel vehicle do you have? We have a Toyota FJ Cruiser and really hope to get out and do some off-roading soon like you seem to enjoy....nothing extreme. Have you been to Moab before? If so, what did you think? Is it as great as I have it built up in my imagination? lol Did you camp? It's on our list...camping & mountain biking...after all it is the "Mountain Bike Mecca" of the US!

Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours.

Valerie and I almost bought a FJ Cruiser but then decided not to do one right now. I need a truck because I ride dirt bikes for my off road thrills and there was no way to get the bike and trailer out at the same time. I was going to put a hitch on the front for a bike carrier but the headlights would be blocked so it would be illegal.

Those sure are nice vehicles and quite capable as well.

From one "Flatlander" to another....Welcome to the family! Exciting huh? Like you we are also playing the waiting game. Looking for a May delivery of our 560 Ultra (AKA Tara), going to be a long winter and its only November. all we can do now is plan and dream about our future plans! Ron and Missy

Welcome! We are a few weeks away, ordered in June. The waiting is certainly hard but enjoy the process. Lots of things to learn, trips to plan and accessories to acquire which makes the time go faster. I think the wait will make us appreciate it all the more once it finally arrives. Great information from the fine folks on this forum to dig through.

Thanks everyone for the kind welcome. I have an FJ Cruiser (2007) and it is only 8 years old. At 92,000 miles, it not even broke in yet.

I just returned a couple weeks ago from a genealogy research trip that took me to Illinois, Ontario (up to the Bruce and Grey county area, another branch of the family as it turns out), then to Maine, New York and back through southern Indiana in the FJ. I was a little late in the season for RV sites, but know how I will do it again after taking delivery of the Camp Inn.

You are aware that 2014 was the last year of the FJ Cruiser. I have owned 4 Land Cruisers since 1978 (continuous 36 year owner) and the FJ is hands down the best one. I liked my FJ40 (1978), but the ride of the FJ on the highway is great (don't need to be in back traction after driving 500-600 miles), and it has wonderful off-road manners too.

I have taken the FJ to Ouray Colorado the first 4 years of the Summit (annual FJ event), but work interfered with the annual trek the last four years. Retirement will free me up for the Summit in 2015, and hopefully I will have the Camp Inn in time. I grew up in Colorado and Wyoming, so running mining trails in Ouray is a blast (Engineer, Imogene, Stony Creek, Mineral Creek, Black Bear, Ophir, and Corkscrew are just so scenic). I heard they closed Black Bear. Too bad.

Moab has one of my favorite National Parks, Arches. There are plenty of fun trails out of Moab into the red rock terrain west of town. Another is going east along the Colorado River to Castle Valley, then south into the La Salle Mountains, and back around to Moab, which is a trip cars can make in good weather. I avoid 4 wheeling anything that has the potential for vehicle damage serious.

Hey Bettendorf, I stopped at Antique Archeology in Le Clare on my Genealogy trip. Nice area there along the Mississippi.

    Regards, Ken

Missy, I am from the Quad Cities (now in Southern Cal) and my entire family still lives in Bettendorf! Do you know any of the Germans? I get so homesick for hte QCs in the Fall.

Awesome, but unfortunately not. Although I went to high school (Grinnell,IA) with a Rick German any relation?

Ken, we're pretty much on the same page. There also at several others we've met through Camp Inn Camp Outt with similar interests. We like to make a least one long trip and a couple shorter ones every summer that allow us to go "hiking" in our LJ Rubicon, (Eugene). We've done similar near CO Springs. There's some but not many opportunities here in MN. Your comments about possibilities out west are certainly a tease. We're planning a return trip to Glacier this summer and hopefully hook up with someone for some trail time. Perhaps out paths may cross someday... Happy trails and camping!

    Terry and Julie,
Funny, Missy and I have discussed Glacier as a possibility this summer. To many variables this summer at this point to make definitive plans though. Keep us posted and if our planning takes us to Glacier maybe we can meet-up. Right now May seems like forever away! Plan to get a few shakedown trips out of the way before we tackle a week plus trip...Take care...Ron and Missy

Maybe we should have a Camp-Inn Friends meet up in Glacier. Laddy and I are planning to visit this summer as well!

Welcome and congrats on your pending 560 Ultra! My husband and I will be getting a 550 Special in April and will be retired and full-timers! The anticipation is both exciting and nerve-wracking! Can't wait to be on the road!

    Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!
