AZ Private CG Kaibab Camper Village

Discussion in 'West' started by Warren Mary Ellen, Jul 6, 2016.

  1. By the time we knew we could do the trip West, the Grand Canyon campground at the North Rim was booked. We missed out on the National Forest campgrounds at Demotte and Jacob's Lake, so we settled for the Keibab Camper Village. They have some dry sites but we opted to go in with big boys to have water and electricity. The dry sites are on a slope but they would have worked. You will be close with your larger neighbors if you do what we did. The awning of our neighbor was nearly over us. They did offer to retract it.

Restrooms look like port-a-potties but there is a sign saying the are not and are connected to the sewer. There are two sets of these. Not ideal, but it could be a lot worse. They were clean. There is a set of sinks next to these for hand washing and brushing teeth. The workers were nice. Nearby is Jacob's Lake Inn whose restaurant is worth a try. Good burgers and shakes. You will actually see Jacob Lake which really just a small pond. The campground is shady and quiet. You are over 40 miles from the rim. We opted to stay here for the 3 days rather than gamble that something would open up in the National Forest. Only Demotte would have gotten us closer.
