Just joined. I don't have my camper yet. But I hope to order a 550 Classic the first of April.
I first saw one at a campground in Wi. a few years ago and I stopped and told the guy I just had to see it. He was more than welcome to show it off and even had some info on it.
    I never forgot about it.
Both my wife and I retire in less than a year and hope to put it to good use.

  2. Welcome Oly. We are from NW Illinois also. Do you follow any of the forums like tearjerkers.net or tntt? If so, you'll find many opportunities to come camp with some good folks or just come spend the day to see the trailers and ask questions.

I am near Andover. I saw my first Camp Inn at Devels Lk.
I have not been on any of the other links.
Motor cycle up your way quite often.

Well Oly, good to have you with us. You are going to love that 550. Jim and I just got ours last October and our only complaint is that we didn't get one four years ago when we retired.

Maybe your little nestling will be done in time for you to attend this year's Camp Inn, Camp Outt. Oh yes, your CI in process is a "nestling", the factory is the "Mother Ship" and you have to name your CI. Just thought you ought to know...

  7. Andover...had to look that one up on the map :)

Not sure of the time frame of getting your teardrop but you are most welcome to still camp with us in September at the Thomson Causeway (link to this in the gathering section called TBTR - tears by the river) or just ride the bike up for the day and have supper with all of us.

Sue, we've had our tear since 2006 and still haven't come up with a name for it yet! hmmm have to work on that one.

Jim and Sue, you mentioned in your post that "you have to name your teardrop". Is there a spot in this Forum that lists everyone's teardrop names? I want to make sure we don't step on anyone's toes and inadvertantly pick a name in use. Maybe we just throw out a few names and see if they are in use?

I think we'll go with Crab Pot. I'm originally from MD and, if you know anything about that area, blue crabs are the local delicacy. You steam them in a very large pot. Well. maybe not as large as a Raindrop but you get the idea. Carol said we could decorate it with crab theme stuff... and, since I'm crabby sometimes it seems to fit. At least for now.
However, seeing the Time Capsule and the Twilight Zone stuff, maybe there's something in an old Rod Serling show that I could steal. I'll have look into that................

    We are in Necedah tonight.
Meeting at Camp Inn Monday morning to order our 550 Ultra.
We are both excited. We had a great trip up today. So glad it is not all that far. Easy part day drive.

Got to love small towns. Stopped in to the hardware store this morning on the way to work to pick up a tool. The lady behind the counter caught me as soon as I walked in the door and said "You need to hurry and get to work, your 9:00 is here already" and pointed over at Ole who was doing a little shopping before stopping at the shop. Seems they had been chatting and had said what they were in town for and of course everyone in town knows me so, well you see my point. Anyhow, I introduced myself at the counter when paying for my purchase and then blasted off on the Harley to work to beat him here!

Anyways, had a great time hanging out with Ole and his wife working up his new Raindrop order. They just left.

That is two new Camp-Inn owners now in Jerry and Tina's neighborhood.

Did I read this right? Did Oly go from ordering a 550 classic to a 550 Ultra to a Raindrop?

Thats what happens when I take my wife.
I was willing to keep costs down but my wife wanted total comfort and looks. What can I say, I just had to go along. Ask Cary how hard I tried to talk her out of it. :D

She's always telling me she's the boss.
We were at the Necedah Motel the night before and sitting in bed and she said how hard it is to get comfortable trying to sit up in bed for very long. We bicycled almost 5,000 mi. across the country in 2000 and never really had anything comfortable to rest your back against for 4 months. So as soon as we sat on the couch in the 560 and thought about maybe staying in it for several weeks or months, we were sold.
