After visiting this site regularly for the past year (Cary called us "stalkers"), we are officially registered. We are outdoor enthusiasts awaiting the arrival of "Wildernest", our 550 Ultra currently in production.

We are (were?) tent campers who dream of traveling to Alaska when we retire. The possibility of packing up a wet tent for days on end prompted us to consider some options.

Teardrops came on our radar just a few years ago and through Internet research Steve discovered Camp-Inn. We dovetailed a trip to the factory with a visit to see our niece in Milwaukee. The big question whether we could fit inside (we are both six footers) was answered (we could!)

On that same trip, we spotted our first Camp Inn teardrop "in the wild", at the campground near Trempeleau. Ms. Wiggins was kind to interrupt her breakfast and give us the tour of her 550.

Then we had all those decisions to make about the options. The Forum answered most of our questions so we feel pretty confident about our selections.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the contributors! The posts were informative and often very entertaining.

We look forward to joining this group of travelers and meeting you out on the road or in the wild (and at a CI-CO someday)!

    Thank you!!

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you did your homework, I'm sure you'll enjoy many trips in your new camper. We enjoy camping up in your neck of the woods, especially the Platte River Campground - great kayaking in some beautiful country.

You must be getting excited as each day passes! We share your excitement as we pick up our 550 Special on April 1st!

I just retired last week; Michael has been retired for a while now. We leave our beautiful Cape Cod, MA on March 20 to visit friends and relatives in NJ before hitting the road to WI.

We are planning, at this time, to go to Alaska next year. We've never been and are so excited to plan this trip!

Wishing you all great adventures with your TD...love the name!

    Welcome & congratulations!

We started out tent campers, went to a huge RV then smaller one, and now are the happiest, proud owners of a 560! I have no doubt you will love yours.

Alaska is my ultimate bucket list trip! I've dreamed of going since I was a child and my grandparent made 3 extended trips (from a few months to over a year each time) and sent me post cards and came home telling great stories. So I've always wanted to do an extended stay as they did and see many places (not just do a cruise). I think the CampInn is going to be the perfect way to do that when we retire.....without spending our kids entire inheritance! :)

    Hi,
We pick up our CI on May 19th. We did the tent camping and then a pop-up. Tired of tearing down in the rain and then drying out.
