Got a quick getaway for the first outing of the season to Hawn State Park. We had been told this place was "The Yosemite of Missouri." We haven't exactly been enamored with the state the Army put us in, so we took that with a grain of salt. Turns out it is a pretty place and has some large exposed rock formations and an interesting geological story. So, ok. Yosemite it is not but it is nice.

Good campground with well spaced out spots. We were in a basic site with no hookups and directly across from the bathroom / shower house.

Good hiking is available, nothing wild but well maintained trails and some decent length.

A main feature on the hiking trails is "Pickle Creek." Can't imagine where that name came from.

And one final bit of eye - candy, that night mode on the iPhone 13 really is something else

It’s really amazing what those iPhones can do these days.
