Not new to camping but new to retirement!
We're looking for a kinder, gentler way to camp. Have been Glamp really. Thought about Airstreams, but just too much in many ways. Put a deposit on a new SOB fiberglass big white box thing and just never felt right about it and cancelled.
The CI teardrop thing feels, or at least reads, right though. Combines the elements of camping, Airstream posh and style and flexibility that could just be it...
We'd love to see a 550 and/or 560 to try 'em on for size. Anybody near-ish to us in Sparta, NJ or Fort Lauderdale, FL, (where my daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law live,) want to show-off their rig?
    Thanks,
Jeff, Carole and Ace (the mini-poodle)

    Jeff,

I suggest calling Cary with Camp-Inn in the morning. He can hook you up with the closest owner. Of course, you are welcome to find someone through the forum, but not all of the owners are online.

Things have moved along quickly for us and in a very good way!
Barring any unforeseen circumstances we will be taking delivery of a lightly used, one year old 560 Ultra this June 9th!
A list member contacted us about their TD and we worked out a purchase. Carole and I are absolutely thrilled!
I'm going to leave sharing the name of the current owner until after we've completed all paperwork and transfer stuff and have their blessing to do so.
But until then we're just raring to go. I'm making sure our TV's are ready to go and starting to compile packing lists.
Thinking about our first night out too. I mean first night away from home, our first night will be in our driveway!
I'm really interested in taking advantage of the solar capability to replenish the battery. Also looking at a Road-Shower. And some sort of tarp/screenhouse to supplement the REI alcove and side tent the tear comes with, and a nice portable barbecue....and everything.
Any how, updates as they come.

    Good for you!
Ace the mini poo will LOVE his new home away from home!!
I was afraid that a teardrop wasn't quite big enough for me, my husband Alan and our 2 mini poo's Opie and Dapper...
but the 4 of us never slept better!

    Have fun!

I hope it all works out. I've had mine less than a month and already love it.

Well, we're another step closer. The funds for the agreed upon deposit has appeared in the seller's account via the magic of Electronic Funds Transfer.
The TD is making it's last trip with current owners to our house in NJ, via Necedah for some inconsequential but worthy warranty work. We are also having Cary install the Roof Rack Option. We'll probably carry our bikes up there and maybe a Rocket Box to hold Tarps/Side Tents/Alcove/Kermit Chairs/and Roll up tables.
So without any drama, we should have our new to us 560 Ultra in our front yard this June 9th!
Can't wait to get some shots of Ace in his bunk up on the site. Oh, and of course our NJ grandson, 2, and granddaughter, 4, and FL granddaughter, 1.5 in their bunks.
Pat, what is your TV? We have brawn, 2004 GMC 1500 4WD v8, and cute, 2014 Jeep Cherokee, not Grand, 2.4L 4 cyl who'll be right on the edge with a 2000# capacity.

Not to out a downer on your plans, and maybe you have something figured out...

We have been trying to figure out a way to put the roof box on the trailer, but because we need the fantastic fan, we haven't been able to. I am not sure if you have a narrower one or are going to let it hang over the side, but that has been our predicament. Let us know how you get on with that. Bikes, no problem though!

    Congrats on your new trailer!

    Skeenut,
2000# towing capacity should do just fine.

Excellent point about the cargo box and fan. Did Skeenut ever answer your post?

Not yet. Mick and I were talking about it while he was out putting a quick coat of wax on .e. We are thinking one of the really narrow roof boxes might do the trick. We have a wide Yakima box for Mick's snow boards (skis go inside the car) and other gear. Our's really is much too wide and we just keep it on the car. Right now it is on Mick's truck but we will switch it to my truck soon for my upcoming road trip (it really is the best place to put wet tents and tarps, although I have found those big Ikea bags to be a close second).

    Welcome to the forum Birder526!

I won't be able to do any roof pod fitment experiments until June 9 when our 560 will be in our driveway for the first time.
I was also hoping one of those super narrow pods might provide enough clearance off to one side. The unbalanced look will bother me though....
