Went camping this week at Grant Village, put together this video to help others know what to expect when camping there.

Thank you for this video. I will be traveling to Grand Tetons and Yellowstone in Sept. Did you receive a site assignment at Grant before your arrival? My reservation does not show a particular site number. Also, did you keep any food in the galley storage spaces or did you put everything in the bear box?

    Happy Camping!

Don't know what Jay and Valerie did, but I would not leave food in anything you care about. A bear may or may not get the food, but they can totally trash whatever you have it in, trying to get at it.

When we camped at Yosemite, a bear tried to push over our camper. We found a tiny splat of bacon grease that I had missed when cleaning around the stove at the backsplash. So when we went to Durango, I bought a bear barrel for all of our dry food, a bear-safe lockable cooler, large dry sacks for storing our dirty clothing and small dry sack for toiletries, and an air horn to scare away the bears. We didn't have any problems with critters with that set up. We like the Orca cooler a lot (fits inside the galley), but I do want to get a larger one for the car.

Hello Peg, we got our site assignment when we checked in. We had to do a little work with them a little because they put our daughter in a completely different loop so we asked to be put as close together as possible. However, you might be able to request a specific site if you call them. Not sure if they will be able to get you into a spot or not but worth a try. As for food, we kept all our dry goods and coolers in the bear box. One of the locals said that they had not seen any bears in grant village yet this year but really not worth taking any chances. We did have can goods in the galley storage but those don't have any odor. Basically anything that smells (even lotion, etc.) went into the bear box.
