We're trying to come up with a campground for this weekend, and have to head east for decent weather. Any suggestions?

Decided on NE IN - Pokagon State Park

I found this spot surfing the net this morning. We've heard of it but have never been, but it sounds great. On a lake, with lots of bike & hiking trails, so we'll probably take the kayaks or bikes or both. Have a great weekend all!

Pokagon State Park, Indiana

How about the garage?

Dry, close to home and bathrooms, shower, TV?

Jean, you are right, but there's too much noise here with all the damn birds!

We almost decided on Door County ourselves, but since we have recently been that way we chose the only other direction with decent weather. Have a fun weekend.

You are right about the birds! I have that too. Its quite the racket out there about 5amish.... I also have some strange bird that will get noisey at about 10pm. Cant figure that out.

Heading to Door Cty, WI this weekend. We think the weather will be a little better up there then going south, because the weather is coming from the south.

Could be a wiporwil (sp)

Pokagon SP - a great spot!

Pokagon (po KAY gun) State Park turned out to be a really great place. There are 5 different campground areas, most are good sized and level. All but 1 of the campgrounds have electric sites, and all 5 campgrounds have excellent bathroom/shower facilities. There's a separate bike path in the park, plenty of hiking trails, a Nature Center and an Inn. It's in a beautiful setting on a 1200 acre lake, near the city of Angola, IN. They have bike and boat rentals available. At only about 2.5 hours east on I-90 from Chicago it will be one to revisit regularly.

Re: Pokagon SP - a great spot!

Ken, Angola is just a little south of where I lived in Michigan, just off I69. Small town of Marshall.
I never made it to Pokagon. I did play golf in Angola though.

Re: Pokagon SP - a great spot!

It's a nice area George. I saw a course advertised that was part of Trine University I think. How long were you there?

Re: Pokagon SP - a great spot!

We were there for about 13 yrs. We lived a little farther west in Niles, Mi, for about 25 yrs.
