A quick project to hang wet dish towels. I put a small hook on one of the ribs of the hatch, tucked in so we don't poke ourselves. I added loops of ribbon to the sides of my dishtowels -I can now hang them to dry, have it handy and not go through so many paper towels!

Good thinking Eileen! We were just ourselves trying to think of a clever way to hang dish towels. This looks like an easy enough solution!

Jerry installed a clever setup for hanging a few towels at a time. Maybe we can get Tina to post a picture...Although, it probably won't be until Sunday, as we are boondocking it this weekend with them in Iowa along with 4 other teardrops.

  5. Well Betsey I'm going to leave it to you to post them please...I'll send them in your email. Had a great time this past weekend and took some new pics for you to post of the towel rack. Picked up the hook at Menards and Jerry put it up on the side for me. I put button holes in the towels and washclothes to hang them.

As in, out in the boondocks - no electricity, water, etc.

We had a fantastic weekend - great weather, great location, great food, & great friends. Just hanging out around the BONFIRE, stargazing, visiting, taking it easy, even taking in some yard sales & the state park. Need more weekends like it! On the way home, we stopped & did some hiking at Backbone State park in an old growth forest. Breathtaking! I will post some pics later.

Sounds like a great time Betsey. I did some fly fishing near Backbone about 7-8 years ago, my 1st exposure to NE Iowa - a beautiful part of the 'driftless' area.

We saw several people fly fishing. It is a beautiful park and there is no entrance fee to Iowa State Parks, which is nice but as they are suffering from budget cuts, I think a users fee might help.

    Hi Tina and Jerry,
this is a nice idea for towels - I think we will get one. I remember how nice your tear was set-up when we visited the Camp-Inn Campout.

Our first trip will be memorial day weekend going to Perrot State Park in WI we are counting the day till we can try our new Camp-Inn out.

Thanks for the great idea and pics Tina (& Betsey!) We were just trying to think of a good way to hang damp towels also. We found a similar piece of hardware at Lowe's, but then opted for a double coat hook (the same as the hook Camp-Inn mounts in the cabin), and hung it in the same location as yours, on the hatch, minus the wooden mount you used. If anyone is interested, I'll post a picture. Now I need to get my sewing machine out, and make some buttonholes!

Lets see!!! Also -would loops be easier than buttonholes??

I finally got the buttonholes sewn into my towels, so here's the pictures. We found the package of two robe hooks at Target for only $3.99, and the finish on them complements the stainless in the galley.
Thanks for the inspiration, Tina & Jerry!

  16. Good job all...glad to share. Just remember with the button holes to keep them on the small side, otherwise a good breeze may blow them off. I've found through trial and error.

Thanks Pat for the nice compliment on our tear. I will be anxiously waiting to see yours again this fall at campinn-campout.

Oops! Now you tell me!! My buttonholes are on the big side. Well, I can always close them up a little, and fortunately, I only made them on two towels....the rest are on my to-do list! Thanks for the tip, Tina!

Looks great, but seeing as Tim is 6'5" , I'd be worried he'd poke his eye out by the hook hanging below the hatch. This, obviously, is an ongoing issue with us...

This is our addition to the towel holder thread. This is a small black plastic rectangle in two pieces, one of which is attached to the rib with screws with a second piece that slides into the first.

The holder has three V-shaped slots in it that grip the towel. It is quite easy to slide any flexible piece of cloth into and out of one of the slots. This towel is in the middle of the three slots.

I wish I could tell you where to find one of these holders but this one has been in a drawer in our house for more than 20 years, waiting for us to buy a place to attach it. There is no indication of a manufacturer, just "Made in Denmark".

And for those of you who prefer to have "hooks", we have some of those too.

    Don & Sue,
We have begun to use the coat hooks above the door for our keys. We have handi-bars on our 550 and the hooks aren't good for much else. The bars reside below the hooks.
