Ok, I know, I know, it's easy when you know how, but like a combination lock, it's easier if you know the combination to wit:

If you're packing the Coleman Cooler in the stove spot for traveling, where does the little side table go?
I thought on top, but no,
I thought in front, but nooooo
I thought behind (got desperate), but noooooooo..heheh..

I normally carry it in the back of the truck, but showing Kathy & Bob tomorrow, thought I make it really fancy, but noooo...
    LOL.
Hep me Plueezzzzz... where does it go??

    thanks...

If you have a 54 qt. Coleman, the CI side table goes up-side down on the top of the Coleman just fine. Fits fairly snug and can't go far.It isn't longer than the Coleman.

Did you push the stove in?

Hilditch is correct...the table lays on top of the cooler with the table top closest to the cooler & the leg closest to the hatch. This works if your cooler is the same height, or less, than the 54 qt Coleman.

There are only a few CIs that it will never fit this way (including our 1st one - #0) & our current one - #3), due to a different design. We just carry ours in the back of the car.

Hey, Betsey - I thought you had #2. Did you upgrade?

And the related trick I learned was this:

When you place the side table upside down on top of the Coleman -- actually, I have a cheap poly imitation 54-quart cooler from Costco (referenced elsewhere in this forum) that works wonderfully -- same size as the coleman, 20% of the price -- it tends to slide forward and back with each stop and start. That movement is addressed by placing a roll of paper towels tranversely across the top of the cooler/table combo, behind the table leg. When the table tries to slide backwards, the leg engages the paper towel roll, which can't slide backward because it's clenched downward by the hatch. Works perfectly, no table bumping around against the hatch underside, whatever.

Yah, I tried the above as I thought that was it, but seemed the edge was hitting the Light?? just guessing as I can't see it, but will try again.. it's the standard SS 54qt you get from CI...
Might have been something else hitting it, but didn't seem like it..
Will try again tomorrow and just slam it down and lock it.. heheh... Just kidding..
Thanks, I thought I was loosing it when I put it on the top and didn't work...
thanks.. Normally I carry the Cooler in the back of the truck too for easy access and secure the rest of the "Out door experiences" Tanks, chairs etc...
Will try again tomorrow.. thanks again..

Ah-ha, maybe it was the towel underneath the cooler, Cary mention to allow easy slide in and out.. might have been too thick... will update.. just dawned on me as I'm writing this... Doh !!!!

    Upgrade? To #3? You're too funny! :D

It actually is the 3rd one built, but it is "officially" #2. Sometimes even I get mixed up...thanks for catching that one.

Frank - are you opening the towel up so that only one layer is under the cooler, then it comes up the back side, over the top and hangs down the front?

Yes, will try it again. Towel is not a fancy-schmancy one that's 2" thick, but I suspect that is the culprit.. will test again a little later.. thanks..

Ok, Ok... My bad.. user error...
I put my paper towels on the top of the cooler when using, attached with the little "CLEAR" suctions cups. Key word "Clear" as in not noticing them... they stuck out enough to make the difference.. Doh!!! a Homer moment..

Thanks all for the help, on to the next SNAFU... ;-))

Frank had everything beautifully set up when we came by to visit today - he also answered tons of questions. Cary, if we do wind up buying one, Frank deserves special recognition. He was a great salesman without the "sales" pressure.

The best salesmen are customers that love what they bought. :)

Heheh.. Thanks for the note Bob & Kathy, it's not a hard sell at all.. it's fun to get others interested and help them get out there...
Hopefully it works out so you can do those long 3 month trips.. envious to be sure..
    See you on the roads

    KathyBob,
When I was just able to see the CI from the internet, I was impressed enough, that I wanted to see one. Cary pointed me to Steve and Ellen from the forum, and b4 I could get with them, I got to see the down side of neglect. Then I got with Steve and Ellen. Steve was wonderful, answered all my questions, but again didn't pressure. The only pressure I got was seeing the quality of the unit and my desire to have one. Their's is a 550 classic, with some upgrades. Later last year I rented the 560 for the better part of a week. Again the only pressure was my want.
There are several TD's on the market, but let me tell ya, My wife and I were very comfortable in the CI. I found no flaws in the workmanship, and it gave you the feeling of being secure. Bottom line, These little units, if you get to see one, will sell them selves. I am anxiously waiting for finances to come in line so that I can place my order.
