Camping in the dells, WI

Ninjamini

Novice
We are heading to the dells area in August. We booked 3 nights with power to run the a/c. But we want to extend it a few more nights however there is no more left with power. Will we need a/c for temp or humidity?

Ninjamini,

Hard to say about temps and humidity. Look at historical data for an idea. At least you will have the fan to help move air if needed.

Besides the "Dells" check out Baraboo, and certainly the "Forevertron".http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forevertron a true piece of Roadside America.

A day trip to Devils Lake State Park, to me a beutiful place.

Also, a very short ferry ride for something unique at Merrimac, Wi.

Bugs are a strange one around here lately. Here in Necedah we have a huge mosquito problem. Yet, you get 15 miles out of town and there are not many to be seen. Not sure about the dells then, anyone know?

I can't say, either about the Dells specifically; but this last 4th of July weekend; one night it was fairly mosquito free; then the next night (naturally, on fireworks night) they were out with a vengeance. Same location.

So if mosquitoes happen to love you; I'd plan on a screen tent so you have someplace to retreat to if necessary.

Bugs & humidity will depend a lot on the amount of rain (it's been a very wet spring/summer so far - so both have been issues).

Where are you camping? Mosquitoes like water, so if you are camped near a river, lake or swampy area, you will have mosquitoes, but evenings will be cooler. Also, with more tree cover/grasses, you will have the same. Further away from water sources, not a rainy period, less tree/ground cover & you will have less problem with mosquitoes.
