Blow & Go or Plan Ahead?

Just curious- which category do you fall in most of the time? I'd like to be a Blow & Go but end up Planning. This time we hope to not plan too much-

So far we have planned and had reservations...but I think we are going to try winging it that way if there's something we really want to see we can stay longer. My parents went on a 106 day trip in 1966 to BC, Calif. and back with no reservations!
P.S. The total cost was a little over $1,000. Dad estimated the cost of doing the trip without the trailer and figured it would have cost twice that much. They had a 1964 19' Concord trailer.

Some of the popular campgrounds along the California coast would definately require reservations.

Well once we leave Hot Springs around Sept. 1 we're not making plans - gonna meander and see where we end up. If that doesn't work out the first few nights well I guess I'll be making reservations.

But one of the things I DON'T want to do is find out later that I was so close to something and didn't get to see it because I didn't research the area. My best friend went to S.D. to Mt. Rushmore and was within 10 miles of seeing the other big monument (can't remember the name - Old timers disease I guess) and didn't even know it existed till she got home! I don't want to do that! Any suggestions on how to avoid doing that?

Your always going to miss something, there just isn't enough time to see everything everywhere. I think the trick is to plan enough that you know there are enough things on your itinerary so you can't possibly do them all and then be flexible enough to change and drop less important ones. I try to have backups for weather changing my plans and just have fun.

Your friend probably missed seeing crazy horse.
