Bedding Solutions- Bunks and Beddys

Hey everyone! My husband and I just bought our first CI 560 ultra this past summer and thought I’d share some bedding hacks that work for us and our two young kids in case someone else might find them helpful!

First, we use a queen size Beddy’s on the factory mattress. We LOVE Beddys! We use them at home on all of our beds. Sure, they are expensive. But if you’re planning to buy all new bedding for whatever reason, it’s not completely unreasonable when you add up the costs of new sheets, new comforter, new duvet, new duvet cover, etc. Plus, they are almost always on sale. So, wait for a sale! Or, buy them on marketplace. We actually bought the beddys we use in our CI on marketplace for $35!

The queen size beddy’s fits great on the factory mattress, even though Beddy’s doesn’t recommend using them on beds less than 8in thick. If you have trouble with bunching on the flat part of the sheet (which we surprisingly don’t), then just use sheet clips.

The zipper sides are great and prevent one partner from hogging the sheets by accident. They’re also great because the sheets won’t come dragging out of the camper by accident when you get out. Plus, they are soo easy to make up the bed and keep your camper organized.

If you camp in warm places, go with the cotton. If you sleep in cooler climates, minkys may be a better option as it’s warmer. I like to be cool when I’m sleeping, so I always opt for cotton and will keep a fleece blanket nearby in case I need it.

For the bunks—- they are obviously a unique size, so all I could find on my original search that would fit well were custom sheets. That may be worth it for some, but I found these instead:https://a.co/d/gTvnToW

They are XL nap maps that kids use in daycare or preschool. They fit PERFECTLY! They are the right size, protect the couch cushions, and provide warmth (although pack other blankets if you’re camping in the cold). Plus, they are cotton so they don’t make that scratchy sleeping bag sound when my kids move around! They have a built in pillow as an added bonus.

One thing to note is that the foot of the mat is open (they aren’t sewn shut like a sleeping bag). This was fine for my daughter, but my son doesn’t like his feet accidentally becoming exposed. So for him, I just purchased a cotton sleeping bag liner and he sleeps on that inside of the nap mat. Or, you could always sew it shut at the foot.

One other thing about the nap mat— I couldn’t find an XL nap mat with elastic straps to keep it in place, so I just sewed my own on the corners to wrap around the couch cushions to keep them in place. Works great! You could even use these on the couch to protect from pet hair if you don’t have children or aren’t using the bunks. (The standard size mats are too short!)

Also, they roll up when not in use and easily store in the compartments behind the couch!
