We will be traveling from Eagan, MN via Green Bay, WI across northern MI and down to Imlay City (the home of the fan-tastic fan). We are visiting relative in Imlay and Detroit.

    Pat,
We have done some camping in Michigan over the years. Here's a few spots we like:
    Tahquamenon Falls SP:http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10365_10887-124495--,00.html

    Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore:http://www.michigandnr.com/publications/pdfs/wildlife/viewingguide/nlp/44Sleeping/

    Muskegon State Park:http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/Details.aspx?id=475&type=SPRK

    PJ Hoffmaster State Park:http://www.dnr.state.mi.us/publications/pdfs/wildlife/viewingguide/slp/79Hoffmaster/index.htm

These are the ones we have visited that would also appear to be kind of on your way. Silver Lakes State Park is one we visited many years ago with the kids, but have not been there recently so I can't say what kind of shape it might be in now.

Are you stopping by Fantastic Fan?

    Have a great trip.

Thanks, I will look at these sites as our return trip we plan to go back north via the west edge of MI.

  5. We too, will echo great camping with Warrens and Sleeping Bear Dunes...also some great wineries in Michigan, along with the blueberries. We stayed at one campground and we were like camping in the blueberry patch. Pick and eat fresh with every meal. Also by Warrens was a great roadside stand that sold the best homemade pies and other great food and soveniers.
    Enjoy your trip!

If you stop at Warren Dunes, just north of SP is a restaurant named Skips. If you like prime rib you have to go there.
The original restaurant is in Heston Indiana, south of Bridgeman, MI. It is called Skips as well.
