alarm clock

Seems like a stupid question but what does everyone use as an alarm clock in their camper? I never even considered one but I realized an alarm clock would be nice on those mornings you want to get an early start either hiking, fishing or driving. I've been looking for a battery operated alarm clock that I could mount on the wall or the front of one of the cabinets but I haven't been able to find anything suitable. Guess I could always go low tech and get an old wind up "big ben" alarm clock. I have not so fond memories of those and the noise they made while growing up.

Cell phone. We also have a little 3" clock with glowing hands that I put on the shelf.

I have used the Big Ben alarm years ago. It ticks so load I could hardly sleep, and when it went off, I would come unglued trying to find and squelch the three alarm fire engine that surely must be close.
I sleep so lightly, I use nothing. I do use my cell phone, if I want to sleep as late as possible. I don't check the time, I wait for the alarm.

Thanks everyone, I had a feeling "cell phone" was going to be most peoples answer. I am one of the few "holdouts" left it seems since I don't have a cell phone and getting one to use as a clock seems pretty silly. I'll just keep checking stores and see what I find.

Jenn, I've checked several Walmart's and didn't find what I was looking for but what you described is pretty much it. I'll keep looking.

Steve & Ellen, those big ben alarm clocks were horrible weren't they. LOL Between the ticking noise, clanging bell and having to correct the time frequently I can't imagine using one again.

Thanks Jenn,

I read through the reviews and the LLBean travel alarm was a great product until recently, the current incarnation has terrible reviews.

Greg,
I checked and the clock we use is called the First Watch Weather Station. Check the LL Bean web site for this one. WE love the size and options it gives us with the remote sensor.

Thanks Bruce.

That weather station does look like what I am looking for. The colors put me off though so I bought this

It may be too big for the inside of the teardrop though, if so I'll have a new clock/thermometer for the house and I'll get the LL Bean weather station. Now I need to see if there is a good place to affix the outside sensor on the teardrop or if it's something I need to place outside when we set up camp.

Thanks again.

Greg,
We have the older TV in our trailer and right beside of it there is a shelf that the weather station fits right on with out setting the little stand up. I just used a small piece of velcro to hold it there while we are camping. The sensor that came with ours has a small footprint and a built in stand so it can be placed almost anywhere. We use it to keep track of the temperature in our pets cage while he is in the forester or outside and we are in the trailer but the ideas are endless. I can even have the sensor out in the trailer in it's shelter and the weather station in the house so I can see how hot or cold it is in the trailer. It seems to have pretty good range and works good even in the cold of winter up here.
