Accidents

I live in Kansas and plan to pick up my new 560 next month. I certainly hope we will never have an accident, but if I do I was wondering what you folks do for repair. I know that Camp Inn builds the trailers to a higher standard than traditional RVs and if I had locals do the repairs I wonder if it would void the warranty or more importantly be substandard. So, if you have an accident is the only alternative to get it back to Camp Inn for repairs?

This depends on the level of repair. Some things like a rear sheet metal replace if someone bumps you in traffic we can have done in the field at a RV center. For most, more severe, accidents it generally is best if it comes back to the factory for repair.

We are just finishing up one for a customer in PA who suffered a pretty hard rear-end collision. Needed a whole new frame put under it and some floor repairs. The back of the trailer fared well actually because the receiver hitch on the trailer took the brunt of the impact from the Outback that hit it. You should have seen the front of the Outback that hit it, yikes.

In most cases the cost of shipping it back and forth to WI usually is well within reason of what the insurance company wants to pay for the total repair.

My daughter lives in Montana and they all have those big steel deer guards on the front of their trucks. Maybe we could put a reiceiver mounted one on the back of our trailers to protect from rear end collisions. LOL

 

Fun idea, Patty. Personally, I think a pair of handsome young men in athletic shorts (no shirts, please), running behind the trailer, waving red flags and yelling, "Don't hit me!" is a pretty good idea, too.

But that's just me.
