    Hilditch’s Fourth Original Chex Mix
    2011

By 1954 the Original Chex Mix recipe was on the Wheat Chex box. Before Corn Chex or Bagel Chips were invented. Since then there have been over 33 more “original” recipes for Chex Mix from the Betty Crocker Kitchens, some worse than others. Here is mine for the discerning CI owner.

1 stick (8 tbsp) regular salted butter
    2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    1 1/2 tsp Lawry’s seasoned salt
3/4 tsp garlic powder (Not garlic salt.)
2 cups each Corn, Rice & Wheat Chex + 1 more cup of your favorite Chex.
2 cups of Planters deluxe mixed nuts
1 cup Snyder’s Mini Pretzels or Sticks

Melt butter in open roasting pan while oven preheats to 230º F. Remove pan & stir in seasonings. Add the rest & stir to coat evenly. Bake 1 hour stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool & store in airtight 4 qt. container, not in refrigerator, for up to 2 weeks if you don’t share it. If you share it, storage is not an issue.

Note: If you substitute or change any of the above ingredients it will taste terrible.

Chex Mix is not just for Christmas anymore.

I love your disclaimer. I'm adding that to all my recipes. :)
