For those midnight trips to the loo, I have a thought and want to run it by those possessors of Rain's & Tears...

In lieu of getting up and GOING to the loo (I know, I know...) has anyone thought of using the urinals that hospitals provide to male patients who are bedbound? They even make them for women with the proper attachments. I'm thinking this would make a great in the middle of the night option for the person NOT on the side where the tent is and they could sit it on a shelf or open the door and stash it on the ground to be disposed of properly in the morning. I apologize if the description is too gross....

EXACTLY what I'm looking for...glad to hear I'm not the only one thinking along these lines. Now to that 60" projector screen!

Hmmmm... thought we had this somewhere else, but anyway, quick and easy answer is Travel John

Once you understand how it works you can probably figure out a cheaper way... AKA, kitty litter etc..

If you need to have a "Sit down" It use the 10 gal (home depot buckets) bucket Loo, with the seat. but then you might need the privacy tent etc.

fpoole,
Just looking for something to keep the midnight runs to the outside potty down (not to mention the run up the road to a campground bathhouse.) For other "doodies" the bathouse will suffice.

IMHO, the best solution for a potty in the side tent is the PETT system. We love it! If you know how to park the car at the right angle to the trailer and away from the road, it can also work without a privacy tent - especially when parked on a scenic bluff overlooking the Oregon Coast. :)

Bear,
This wouldn't be anything hooked up inside the Rain or Tear, it's portable - I've already ordered it!

But as an aside the thought DID occur to us that a funnel type situation connected to a stainless steel hose running through to a covered pail that sits underneath on the ground might work....but I don't think anyone would do it - just my overactive imagination at work!

Evan you are right we went for less expense and now purchased the Pett should have listened to you and saved money.

Hi Evan,
I tried this link but keep getting an error message. I was just curious if the urinals on this site we're any different than what I've already seen. Is there another link that might work?

As a side note, be aware of where you stash your urinal. I set ours in the corner of the side tent on our first outing. It rained a little the night before we left so when we got home I hung the tent under the carport to dry. I noticed an odd smell but thought it was from being rolled up damp and figured it would go away as it aired out. Needless to say it didn't, but I couldn't identify the smell. I wasn't sure if it was from sitting on the damp ground, as the oder was strongest around the base, or it had started to get a moldy smell from being damp… Michelle happened to walk by an I asked her opinion. Imagine her facial expression as she proclaimed it was dog urine. Apparently, my milk jug didn't do a good enough job containing my sent and that one lone, stray, unleashed dog that I saw wondering around the campsite found me. So… Be Aware of Dog(s) and/or where you set your container.
