560 Ultra - 6'+ Question

    Hi all,

I've been lurking for a while on the forums, and have a question I can't find answered.

I'm not short. I've yet to find a teardrop where I can stretch out on the bed, and NOT windup sleeping diagonally. I'm looking at the 560. I read somewhere that the bottom bunk/sofa can sit level with the mattress.

I'm wondering if its possible to put your pillow on the sofa area and sleep comfortably? Is it the same level?
How about with a mattress topper or slightly thicker mattress?

Any 6'3 folks out there who can attest?

    Many Thanks!

    Keith

Yes, I’m lying here right now with my head on a pillow on the couch lowered cushion. With the couch cushion down you have about 7.5 feet of stretch out sleeping area. I have a 1 “ mattress topper and it’s fine.

I'm 6'3" and have no problems using the queen size bed. My feet can touch the foot of the bed but it has never bothered me. I just bend my knees a little and sleep on my side. If you absolutely do not want to touch it, the bench mode would give you the ability to use the couch for a bed extension with no issues. I have 3 year old twins that sleep here though so I just use the bed.

I'm short, so I can't help you with the tall part of your question, but I can add that because of the design of the teardrop, you have fuller access to the entire bed compared to a normal bed, since it's a flat surface, with no edges where you are going to fall off. Our little dog likes to curl up, cave like, at the foot of the bed, underneath the storage area, and I still have plenty of room (I am 5'4") for myself and my pillow, without kicking the dog.

560 should work fine for you - pillow on the seat - it is pretty flush with the mattress - I am not 6’ - but I use it that way.

  6. You'll have plenty of room in a 560.

With the Froli system my mattress is perfectly level with the couch in the down position.

Thanks for all the replies. Glad to hear it's flush (that's what I meant to ask) with Froli System.
Is that standard, or something you add on?

  9. Hi Keith,
I’m 6’5” and my wife is 5’11”. We are quite comfortable in our 560 ultra with our pillows on the couch seat.
    Cheers,

Froli is a spring system that you can add on. It has two main benefits: 1) it provides air circulation underneath the mattress to reduce mold/condensation problems; and 2) it acts as sort of a box spring to increase comfort and prevent the mattress from bottoming out, especially at hips/shoulders/lumbar areas. Some people find that they don't need a mattress topper after they add the Froli.

There are a few threads about the Froli system on here, but here is one:

If possible, get the SUV version which is a few inches taller---it will give you a bit more headroom when working in the galley area.

As you have seen, yes. If you lay the couch flat, you can extend the sleeping area further. It's not completely level but close enough that with some blankets or mattress topper it should be plenty comfortable. But I would also point out that it is a standard queen size space at 80 inches (6.7') so while it might be a little tight, should should be able to fully extend within the allotted bed space. You should be able to contact CampInn and they can connect you with someone near you so you can see one in person (they are a sight to behold) so you can see for yourself. I also have a detailed walk through of my 560 on YT that can give you a sense of the space.
