    Photo contest - Shameless plug

Hi everyone! I entered the "Share the Experience" photo contest today and I am just passing along the links for 2 photos I entered. If you like them and would like to vote for my pictures, I would be most grateful. The first photo has been entered into the History category. As the caption...

    Watchman Campground (Zion NP)

This was my first trip to Zion, and right after arriving was wishing we had more than 1 night there. Despite the heat, it has a stunning beauty I have never seen before. Watchman campground was great too. We stayed in loop B, and we actually had electric, which this is the first National Park...

Tent for the Front of your Camp-Inn...

Wow, might be more reliable than a bus, and just as cute! Love that!

    The "Dew Drop Inn" Chronicles

    Kershaw-Ryan SP (Caliente)

On our trek from Yosemite to Zion we decided to break up the drive a bit. We were pretty weary after 9 hours of travel and needed to stop. We had research Kershaw-Ryan State Park and decided since it was the first campground along the way (outside of the Ali-Inn RV park) that we would go there...

    Roof-mounted Solar Shower

Mick has done that done with the prototype. He placed a block under one end to help with the gravity feed. The surfers at the beach were jealous as they watched Mick hose off in the parking lot. Not all beaches here have showers!

    Food storage

I have seen a lot of bad camping etiquette lately. I constantly have people looking in my doors when they are open or trying to look through the window when they are closed. I have always said, nothing brings out the crazy like a national park. State parks are much better and they at least ask...

    Food storage

We saw signs up in Moab about locking coolers up at night to prevent theft. I think being in town made us a little more prone to theft, plus, being a resort town, we are all easy prey. I just put the cooler in the galley, but I left my tables out. We also always lock our bikes up (growing up...

    Stella on the Olympic Peninsula

Fantastic info, thank you! I plan on doing some exploring on land up there some time soon (done lots by boat already). One complaint though, you and Michael keep letting our secrets out! It is going to get even busier now because it looks heavenly! ;) (just kidding...mostly!)

    Bike Carrier

We have one folding bike and one kids bike. Both fit on the bed while traveling and then I move things around for bed time easily. They lock to the trailer hitch area nicely with a big U lock.

    Boise-Meridian KOA (Meridian)

Hi all! I am not usually a big fan of KOAs (that is a different style of camping than I enjoy, and you can see why in my first picture on my review), but I decided to check one out on our way home a couple of weeks ago. I just needed something close to Boise (it was close to the half way...

    The "Dew Drop Inn" Chronicles

Ooh! I saw a post about those expanding teardrops. They are really something. That one looks huge in the picture you took. Is it really that big? They seemed nice, but I sure like my little trailer, even though my truck is complete overkill! That is big work. Congrats on completing it and...

    Single cup coffee makers

Still love my Bialetti and we got the 6 cup version for when Mick travels with me. It has been great!

    Southwest Adventure

In all honesty, I don't know that I can actually answer that. Our temps were so high, and I have never camped in those types of conditions. Did it help? Maybe, but we were in 108 at our highest, it was 105 in the shade in Yosemite, average was 100 I would guess. Based on that it ran like crazy...

    Wawona Campground (Yosemite NP)

When I was trying to figure out which campground we wanted to stay in for our trip to Yosemite I asked a few people about favorites. Everyone suggested we stay outside the Valley, and I am really glad we did. Jenn had recommended Wawona, and we were not disappointed. It is a nice, quiet part of...

    Food storage

Jean, out in these parts our squirrels/chipmunks and Stellar's Jays can be quite aggressive and are not afraid to go into the galley. We had a terrible time with keeping them out of the galley through the Redwoods and Yosemite in particular. Even sitting at the picnic table with the hatch open...

    Southwest Adventure

Thanks Michael! The Lad never asked if Katie was going to be there. A little bit those first few nights about when she would be there, but otherwise, you are correct. I did get 6 new medallions for the galley (Zion's was my favorite...a beautiful elk). As to reservations, we did make...

    Southwest Adventure

Only if you will fit in one of the bunks! ;) We love traveling with folks so keep us posted and maybe we can camp together one day. Would be lovely to meet you!

    Southwest Adventure

Final installment! 7/6 (Sun) - We got up early to make the most of our day of exploration. We borrowed the Discovery Pack from the Visitor's Center and set out for the South Kaibab trail. We did the hike to Ooh Aah Point and were able to marvel at the Trail Maintenance workers as they labored...

    Food storage

We do things a little different than most. I keep my food in the right hand bin. I don't like the idea of water getting into my food. All of my cooking items are under the sinks and this has worked best for us. For long trips (and just because) I also keep a "pantry" under the bed in one storage...
