    New Tow Vehicle

Jeremiah has a new tow vehicle. We traded our 2012 Subaru Outback in for a 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness. Lots more features on this one and I felt like it handled better than our old Outback. We’ll try not to jackknife the trailer with this one. LOL we had good luck with 2012 & didn’t see...

Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

If it is going to rain on us on the last night especially we’ve been known to pack up and take off during the day before it starts to avoid everything being wet. We don’t have a garage, so finding space to hang stuff is a hassle for us. Our walk up attic is the best place to do it, but what a...

Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

We had a head custodian who was from NYC and had not been in SC long when some turkeys ended up in the parking lot on some cars. The custodian said he was going to chase them away. We told him not to try. Luckily he didn’t get hurt, but it’s a shame cell phones with cameras weren’t around. It...

Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

Here in SC, in the last 2 weeks most of the school districts declared April 8 an eLearning Day. The kids don't have to come in, so it’s like an artificial snow day.

Probably Should’ve Checked The Propane Tank Before The Trip

Thanks & sorry to hear about Dad. My father’s health had been bad for years & crashed pretty quickly at the end. We did a lot with my mother from help get adjusted to her new existence.

    Sadlers Creek

I didn’t have a beard or gray hair then. We had talked several times before I heard his name to realize I knew him. Neither one of us recognized the other, although as Assistant Principal, you don’t know the kids who stay out of the office. Lol. MY first 10 years I at my alma mater and it...

    Sadlers Creek

The park keeps getting better. The Ranger in his short time there has done more for this place than any the other 50 years it has existed. A lot of the improvements have been to campground making sites better. Cool for me, he was student at a school where I was an Assistant Principal.

Probably Should’ve Checked The Propane Tank Before The Trip

Probably should’ve checked the propane tank before the trip. Or at least looked at gauge we had installed two years ago. Got up this morning to make coffee & we had no propane. So the coffee pot went on the grill on the campfire ring. Crisis avoided. We camped so little last year, I thought we...

    New Camping Buddy

We be joined by our new camping buddy this fall. We picked Archie up a few weeks ago and he should be ready for an October weekend. Labor Day weekend, we’ll be at Lee State Park so we can attend the Southern 500 in Darlington, but can’t exactly take a dog to the race track. Not much camping...

Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

2:55 and a thunderstorm has me awake in Upstate SC. The cat will be in the carport under the Camp Inn. I wonder what he uses for a safe space when we are camping & the camper is gone?

That Sign Was There For A Reason!

I know where that one is located. I’ve done the Assault on Mt Mitchell bike ride & that is the spot where the ride is all uphill here from there. It is beautiful in there along NC 80. Thanks, we’ll keep that in mind since that is closer to where we live.

That Sign Was There For A Reason!

I play that Cash/Ives version in my History class. Kids love it. Most know Cash and I make the listen carefully to Ives & finally someone realizes he narrates the Rudolph special.

That Sign Was There For A Reason!

Using Google Maps to get to Blue Bear Mountain Camp between Todd, NC & Boone, NC & we were told to turn on Brookshire Road because NC 194 had a section closed. First thing we see is the soccer facility for App State University & a sign that says “No Long Vehicles or Combo Vehicles.” So did we...

    NC Blue Bear Mountain Camp

Nice campground other than we saw none of the Blue Bears that give the place its name. Some electric sites and some without. C1, C2, C3 are all in the shade all day. C3 is the biggest of these & all 3 have electricity. C8 would have shade late in the day & has electric. Water is availability...

Coaching Track & Field is done now & we have only one more week of school. Timer or us to get camping! Get a late start to it this year.

Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

Coaching High School Track again is keeping us from getting in our normal spring camping trips, but I’m actually enjoying being able to do work with kids again like this. Weather is pretty bad this weekend anyway, cold & rainy.
