Today was rough --- our shop goes down to 70 by opening at 9am. By 5pm, it was 82. Just got wamer all day...only 91, which is not uncommon around here.

It’s going to be in the 80’s today with humidity in the 90’s then rain this afternoon. I live in the coldest spot in Wisconsin. No we don’t set the record lows in the winter although it does get cold. If you count the years thermals days we are the coldest. An 80 degree day is rare here. Timms Hill which is the highest point in Wisconsin is out my front window.

Its looking like we're going to get just enough rain to make cutting the grass impossible (messy at least) - Id like to get that done today.

I use Gaia app fire overlay, which is helpful
And search for local fire authority maps online
    Current fires - NMDHSEM WIldfire
    Augmented by Mk1ModA eyeball

  8. Finished my toast and looking at the temps for our July camping trip up to Sleeping Giant and Quetico Provincial Parks….look to be perfect sleeping weather. Roof box installed with Gazelle, need to confirm rocket box does not interfere with Bunduawn when extended.

This was last nights sunset. I had friends over and they were leaving. Everyone committed on on beautiful it is here especially with the sunrises and sunsets. One lives a half mile away and she is buried in the forest and can’t see much of the sky.

This was the view to the east. The sunset was more visible a few seconds before the picture was taken. I had to run to get my phone.

....while here in MN I have yet to turn on the AC this year, and I can count the number of days we've used the CI's AC on one hand during the 12 years we've owned it. What a difference a few hundred miles make.:)

We just inverse it in Florida. It’s a game among some of my friends to see who is the last to turn on their furnace in the winter! I’m just a spectator on that one.

  12. Got done with Cross Country practice at school this morning & huge boom startled me a little. Thought it was from the construction on campus, but it was a sonic boom. Lockheed Martin works on F-16s at Donaldson Center (retired Air Force base) in Greenville, SC. They say the flights shouldn’t be heard like that, but every once in a while you get this. I work in a rural area and they come that way so they are flying over less densely populated areas. First time I’ve been outside for one.

I remember hearing the sonic booms when we were kids in the mid to late 60's. Always thought they were SO cool - we coincidentally wanted to be jet pilots at about that same time...

  15. Once I knew what it was I thought was cool. They are building a 3 story addition to my school and they have crane there right now to stuff to the roof. I assumed something had been dropped.

  16. Did you ever fly in/out of Donaldson Center in Greenville, SC while you were with NASCAR.? It would the closest of the 3 Greenville airports to the Greenville-Pickens Speedway.

I don’t remember flying into Donaldson, but did fly into Spartanburg Downtown, Greer, and Greenville a lot. Always enjoyed eating at the Beacon in Spartanburg.

  19. I went to college In Spartanburg, so eating at the Beacon was required. Bud Moore Engineering was a few blocks from campus. In the late ‘80s, I’d listen to the race on Sunday & then Monday drive by to hopefully see the race car.

Avgas for me, but any jet fuel works too. Actually (IFKYK) the smell of the heater is one of my favorite smells....

It was a wonderful week up until 6:30 this morning. I cam out Wednesday morning through Friday morning to Brown County State Park for a tearjerkers gathering, worked Friday, then came back Friday night through Sunday. The temperatures and humidity were high, but back in the woods I saw temps closer to 85 rathern than the 90's up front in the "big rig" area.

But, just as I was waking, I heart a gentle thump on the vent, then another...a few more....uh oh. Pulled up the radar and sure enough --- a nice line of rain, about an hours worth. We have about another 20 minutes of this I supposed. Relaxing yet creating the need to dry off my tents. Perhaps my least favorite part of camping.

The Hoosier Chapter of the Terjerkers is embroiled in a little bit of a mess. The former director(s) started to move towards big rigs due to health issues, and soon most of the teardrops became large elkhart models. But Andy, one of the teardroppers, petitioned to split the group into 2 --- the old guard and the teardrop people. We're all still friends and very friendly towards each other (8 camping trips a year instead of 4) and we seems to have keept from gathering on the same weekend....so its all working out. This was his second gathering in his first year. I'm sure he's tired after all the social activities yesterday. We met some new friends from the ohio and bluegrass chapter.

Learned about Otter Creek in kentucky. Apparently, its a hidden gem which is in a "reconstruction" phase -- some place worthy of our support.
