The International Redwood Gathering (IRG) is held every other year at Pamplin Grove in Carlotta, CA. The next one, IRG3, will be this year - July 14-18, 2010. The registration fee is $30.

If you would like more information on registration, who is attending, what events will be taking place, etc., here is the website:

    http://www.pamplingrove.com/

There is a limit of 250 people (not trailers). This is a county imposed regulation. If you are considering attending, you need to get your registration form in soon, as the confirmed registration count is at 242, with room for only 8 more people.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet teardroppers from all over the U.S. & see a huge variety of all types of teardrops - originals, homebuilts & manufactured.

Craig & I will be attending (for the first time), as well as several other Camp-Inn owners. We even have 3 other teardrops from our area (Wisconsin, Minnesota & Illinois) attending. We are really pumped!

  2. We can't wait to go...this is something we have been planning on since Minden two years ago. Would be great to see a few more from our area be able to attend. Looking forward to meeting new teardroppers and finally put some faces to those we talk to on the forums.

We love the redwoods - and with Betsey cooking for all of us, who could resist - we're coming!

  4. Yeah...we can meet up in person. I love it when we can put faces to names and pics for real.

We just got confirmation of our registration - now only spots for 15 people left... :)
Looks like Craig & Betsey are on track to win the prize for furthest distance traveled to get there!

No, one of our fellow Tearjerkers is about 30 miles further east than we are. However, we will be the furthest traveling with a Camp-Inn. But between the four Tearjerker couples who are attending from our area, all of whom are members of our St. Croix Chapter of Tearjerkers, we will have over 9,000 miles one way! Not too shabby!

Yeah, I've got my reservation. Looks like there will be a good representative of CampInns. It'll be our first IRG and really looking forward to it.

Unfortunately we will be in the area a couple of weeks before the IRG. We have a 3 week coastal camping trip planned around the dates Tim can be gone from work, and have to home by July 5. We will try for 2012!
I have great memories of camping as a kid at Grizzley Creek Redwoods State Park, just up the Van Duzen River a bit from Carlotta. Inland enough to not be drippy wet with fog, sunny enough to tube on the river. Close enough to Eureka, Ferndale and other great day spots!

You guys will have a great time at the IRG. Dean and Joanie really put on a top notch affair. Great people and great food. Plus a lot of fun activities.

At IRG 1 my wife and I were the only Camp-inn and at IRG 2 we were joined by 2 othgers, Ron and Olga, and Carol. Sounds like a lot more this year.

But I think it's filled up already.
    Good luck.

Yes, it is already full but you can email Dean and get put on a waiting list. I believe there are currently 2 other parties (of 2 people each) who are on the waiting list. There were more but they have moved into slots that have already canceled.

All the info on the IRG is in the first post in this thread on page 1.

I was just in the area camping. I did not know about the IRG when we planned our trip, but work schedules would have kept us home any ways. Hopefully there will an IRG4 in 2 years!
Since I was in the area, I would suggest a meal at the Samoa Cookhouse in Eureka. My grandmother ate there as a little girl when she was in boarding school in Eureka, and her best friend was from Samoa Island (California, not the South Pacific!) It is the old cookhouse for the lumber mill. It is family style, so call ahead to see what they are serving. Lots of great history of the area on display!
If you go west from Pamplona grove, you will find yourself in Ferndale. It is a small Victorian community, that is fun to poke about. Not as much as long ago, an earthquake 20 years ago took a lot of the buildings off their foundations. From there you can take the road through the Lost Coast! This is a part of California of my childhood, that most Californians do not know exists! The road goes from Ferndale to Petrolia to Honeydew and ends up on the Avenues of the Giants. Take a picnic lunch, a full tank of gas, and be prepared for some wind. The windswept ocean views are to die for!

All of you that are going, please take a lot of pics, especially of the CI's and their owners as well as set ups, oh and anything else of interest.

Those of you that are going and are DO wanna bees, Find "Fogcrawler" AKA Dean. He is the host. He and his wife joane can really head you in the right direction with dutch ovens.
