Replaced them with 3/4 inch threaded ball valves

To an untrained observer, that looks like a bad use for that sort of valve. Seems like it would be pretty easy to drive over something that would pull that valve open......Maybe not an issue for the grey water tank, but I'd hate to arrive at a campsite with an empty clean water tank.

I apologize for being Donny Downer. (and I submit that I'm no expert at such things)

Good call out Al. I wonder. My thinking is that it is no lower than the stabilizer jacks. I suppose if I did a lot of off-road stuff it might be a concern. But thanks, going to crawl under with that in mind and have another look. The valve also takes quite a bit of force to open. Pretty tight. Also, it open by pushing to the front.

Is there enough room to rotate entire valve, turn handle over? Basically putting handle on top??? just a thought..

Great idea but nope, not enough clearance. I really think it will be fine as the handle is above the leveling jacks. It also opens by pushing the handle towards the front of the camper so unlikely it would open by hitting something. Really like it, I was famous for misplacing the yellow caps! :)

I like it, too, and I bet it will work just fine.

Hello... My first post on this forum. I just solved this situation this week at Farm&Fleet for less than $5.
I can't wait to "hit the road" with this upgrade:
No more corn kernel problems. Full 5/8" bore.
    Positive on/off.
Plenty of road clearance, as you were discussing.
    It's even a gray/grey color! Jim

Jim, is there a Gilmour part number?

Jim, this valve just screw on the outlet of the tank, I'm assuming. Is it like a garden hose, with a rubber gasket/ORing?

Doesn't seem to have a number, but just check your local hardware store in the garden hose fittings.
This Gilmour is the best one I found.
The other thing we've found is when you stay put camping, you will have to add water. Then, of course you eventually smell gray water as it burps out the vents in the tank. We drain off a few gallons into a milk jug and go dump it in the ocean or whatever is convenient.
Adding water: collapsible water jug or collapsible 50' hose. Pictures below.
    Hope this helps. Jim

Brilliant! We are newbies and after just four trips realized that we needed to figure out a system for this!

Ours are arriving tomorrow from that same small company - I hope they can handle the increased volume (pardon the pun). Thanks Jim & Selma for the great suggestion.
