That's A Wrap

Discussion in 'Adventures & Excursions' started by Warren Mary Ellen, Dec 1, 2019.

  1. Unfortunately, that's a wrap on 2019 camping for us and Jeremiah camping. Just got back yesterday from our second trip this month and third in the last 6 months to Rolling View Campground at Falls Lake State Park in North Carolina. We've been visiting our daughter who is up there this semester, but we will be back on campus at Clemson starting in January. That has been a nice campground to base our visit from for us. It has been quiet and well run with a lot of privacy between neighboring sites. For us, most of the visits have been doing things with our daughter so we have mainly just slept there.

For us December gets busy and obviously colder too. We do have to go back to Durham in a few weeks, but that will be to move our daughter back to Clemson and we will be towing a UHaul then. We are headed to Nashville for a John Prine concert on New Year's Eve, but we will be in a hotel for that. One possibility could be MLK weekend, but will check the weather at that time to see if it is a possibility. If we do MLK weekend, it might be to Savannah. Otherwise, we will probably not be back in Jeremiah until March.

One thing we did on Friday was to make reservations at the SC State Parks for some of our camping this next year, mostly in the Spring and Fall. The summer we usually try to go farther from home since we are both off from school. May head into Necedah for Jeremiah to get a 5 year check up. If we do that we will probably do some camping in the Midwest. Some of our summer plans won't be finalized until we know our daughter's summer plans with school/work.

For us 2019 meant 29 nights sleeping in Jeremiah in 7 different campgrounds. All of them were in SC except for the stays at Falls State Park in NC. Four of the campgrounds were new to us and helped us to become "Ultimate Outsiders" with the SC State Park System by visiting all 47 parks. We attended our first NASCAR race in Darlington when we camped at Lee State park Labor Day weekend and got to tailgate with fellow Camp Inn owners at the track before the race. Unfortunately, their camper was wrecked on the way down to the race but has since been repaired and is back on the road. Camped with another fellow Camp Inn couple in October at Chau Ram. This week while in Durham, we made it over to a Carolina Hurricanes Hockey game. Found a lot of good food in our travels including about 6-7 BBQ joints along the way.

Today, we cleaned up Jeremiah and winterized it too. 2019 was a good year and hoping 2020 is even better. We up to 113 nights total (17,528 miles) in our 560 Ultra and hopefully we can get to 150 nights by the end of 2020.
