Long Fall Weekend

Discussion in 'Adventures & Excursions' started by Warren Mary Ellen, Nov 3, 2018.

  1. Heading out in a little while for a long weekend of camping in at Oconee State Park in the mountains of South Carolina. We camp here several times a year since it is not too far from the house. Schools in South Carolina are closed on Election Day and we've got Monday off as well. Our daughter is on Fall Break at Clemson University and we will pick her up on the way up. And if you never tried, you can sleep 3 people (as long as one of you can sleep curled up in a ball on the seat) , a Corgi and a Boston Terrier Mix in a 560 Ultra. It's cozy but doable.

That area has some apple orchards so we'll go see if they still have any left to pick. They should have some Yates and I'm crossing my fingers that they have some Arkansas Black apples left. I'll get in some cycling and we'll hike some in the area. Nice trails in the park and that area is surrounded by a National Forest that includes the Chatooga River and Chauga River(the rivers most of the movie, "Deliverance" were filmed on in the early '70s).

  2. Have had great weekend of camping and the Fall Color was really beautiful and will be for the next week or so in the mountains of SC. Found some Arkansas Black apples at our favorite orchard. I got in a bike ride and my parents came up for the day. We grilled pork chops over the camp fire and I added some Rosemary wood from a plant we had that had died in our yard. They came really great. Not sure if that is it for us until spring. We may look to go somewhere at Christmas but we have not made plans.
