So we're leaving this coming Saturday for our trip, but discovered last night that the camper battery has gone bad and I need a replacement. Is a size 24 AGM battery going to fit? Any help would be a us right now. THANKS, Tim

Found no size 24 AGM batteries today that had the positive and negative posts in the right orientation (negative on the right). Also the old battery has screw in pads while all the batteries I looked at today have posts. Not that big of a deal to over come though. I did find a regular car battery with the pos/neg posts in the correct orientation and adapters to allow me to attach the existing battery leads in the camper to the battery, but it's a regular car battery and not a AGM battery.

Don't know where you are located, but did you try Batteries Plus?

A regular car battery isn’t a good solution for most uses of the teardrop. They’re designed for light draw-downs and constant charging.

The CI battery compartment isn’t ventilated. An AGM or other sealed battery doesn’t care, but a conventional battery does vent flammable hydrogen gas under some charge/discharge conditions. AGM is part of the camper’s design...

    I believe what’s in my 2012 550 Ultra camper is the original large-capacity battery. It’s a C&D UPS 12-300MR, is AGM, and is 10.27”W x 6.83”D x 8.01”H. There’s not a lot of extra room in the compartment...

I found a company called "Battery Outlet". They have a PS-12750 AGM battery (12 Vdc, size group 24) that ought to fit. Only difference is that the old battery has pads which accept a bolt to attach the battery leads while the new battery has posts with a hole to bolt the battery lead to it. I hope to pick up the battery tonight and get it installed. I'll post pics if anyone is interested.

Have you measured the space that the battery needs to fit into? I'm not sure, but a size 24 seems like it might not fit. Keep us posted (pardon the pun)

According to Craig, any Group 24 battery is likely to fit, but some fit much better than others. Cary can explain how to make adjustments depending upon whether a specific battery is longer, wider or taller. Our most recent battery is this one, selling for $136 + shipping:

It is slightly taller than the original battery. We compensated for that by removing the piece of thin paneling on the battery compartment floor (we stowed that behind the battery, against the outside wall, in case we need it in the future).

We've had the battery for 5 months, and it seems every bit as good as the previous batteries that we've purchased.

I would say the critical dimension to stay within is the length, as there may be a few batteries out there that are too long to fit the space.
