So I took Jay's advice and used the awesome Father's Day sale at my local Home Depot and bought a cordless Drill to raise and lower my landing gear on our 560. So with it being Dad's Day, there are some pretty killer deals. I was stalking the DeWalt cordless 20-volt brushless drill / driver drill. Great news is that there is a combo kit right now that not only includes the XR 20-volt drill / driver with 2 20-volt batteries and recharger unit, but also includes the DeWalt 20-volt brushless hex impact driver for the same price.

Yes, that means you get the drill driver + the hex impact driver for free!!!!! Hoooray!!!!!!!

Now with the use of the hex shaft 3/4" nut driver, I can raise and lower our landing stabilizer gear like a boss!
If you want one go to Home Depot and look for:
    DEWALT
    Model # DCK281C2

Nice. We had a leak in our kitchen and it dripped all over our charging station. It was no longer fully charging the batteries of our drill so we went and picked up another drill with charging station and 2 batteries. So, now we have the impact drill and cordless drill for home and a dedicated drill for the camper. It was on $79 for the 20V drill, charger and 2 batteries.

Does it require an impact drill driver or will a regular drill work too? Is there an original post with Jays recommendation?

    Thanks.

A regular drill will work. However, once the jack hits the ground, it will slow the drill way down so something with good torque is helpful. If you need to do a LOT of leveling, you might have to finish it off by hand.

Go to the 2:30 mark in the video below to see what I am talking about.

If you are on any slope when setting up, you may want to leave the chains on until stabilizers in back are down with wheel chocks in place. We heard a story about a guy who's rig rolled down a hill and almost into a lake.

Yep, that is why step 1 is to put your wheel chocks in place. Definitely do NOT want the trailer moving around on you when you are unhitching.

Do all drills stop "working" once the jacks hit the ground?

As I don't own all drills, I could not say. However, this is about how strong the drill is and how much torque it can generate. As you see from my video, that my drill does still work, but very slowly. The more weight it has to lift (i.e. the higher it needs to go to level), the more strain put on the drill motor. A corded drill will generally drive more torque but it also means you need to have shore power.

The great thing about the DeWalt kit described above is that it includes both drill and impact driver. The impact driver delivers 125 foot lbs, plenty to raise the trailer.
