    Hi All,

I’m new to this forum and a 560 Ultra wanna-be. My wife and I just moved to Rapid City and we quickly determined that we need a camper in order to take advantage of all the great outdoor activities in the area ☺

After a lot of research we decided the 560 was the best fit for what we want/need. We’ve just started the process of having one built with the hopes to pick it up next year and we would appreciate any recommendations.

Looking forward to joining the teardrop club!!

    Tony,

Congrats! My wife and I are ordering our 560 soon, we can't wait, we hopefully will take delivery about April 2016. For what's it's worth, we do have some recommendations. Please use as you see fit.

We have already started collecting items we suspect we'll need for the CI. Things such as pots, pans, utensils, trailer locks, chocks, hose, cooler, etc. This way we have time to think about the purchases versus rushing and just grabbing things and making mistakes upon delivery. Some of the bigger purchases have been a small generator for running the AC unit when we are primitive camping in the hot Texas summers, Rock Tamers which are basically big mud flaps for our pickup truck to keep road debris from damaging our CI.

We are planning for a portable solar unit as well to recharge battery while primitive camping. Cary is installing a plug-in adapter for easy connection as well as a Bogart Engineering 2025-RV unit which will allow us to monitor the battery and electricity going into and out of the battery. This will help us to better manage our electricity usage.

This forum and everyone on it have been very helpful and educational for us, we hope you get as much help as we have received.

    All the best,

How exciting for you to know a raindrop is in your future! April will be here before you know it! Great idea to make purchases early on. We have the solar hook-up and use our panels often! This is a great time so have fun! My favorite purchases: Luggable Loo, Cabela's privacy tent, and the Wonder Wash! If you have any questions, just ask!

You will love your 560. This forum is a great place to learn what may be helpful when camping in a CI.

Well congrats and welcome! Oh the fun you are going to have shopping for your baby 560. Cabelas and Bass Pro are definitely in your future (toy shops for us camping wack-os).

What you need depends on how you like to camp, but I would advise door screens. They didn't have them when we ordered our 550 and I would dearly love to have them added when we go to CICO this fall. And speaking of CICO, you should come on down and join us in Wisconsin. Maybe rent a 560 for the gathering.

All you folks who want a teardrop or have one on order, you should all come on and join in CICO this September. You don't have to have a teardrop to pile in with the rest of us. Friendly group over there. Ignore the distance - heck, we're coming from the California coast (via a loop through the South to Maryland). Besides, long road trips are going to be part of your lifestyle real soon so would be a good idea to become accustomed to them. Get your feet wet as it were.

    It'll be fun.

I agree with Sue. Bob and I went last year while our 560 was on order. Camped in the back of our grand Cherokee and set up the northern breeze. Met wonderful people. Well worth the trip. Plan on going this year with the trailer.

  9. We just did 3 weeks in our 560 Ultra driving 6600 miles. We came through Rapid City a few days ago. I think you will love having in that area. We bought solar panels and they worked great for us at keeping the battery charged and allowing to use electricity to keep phones charged, etc. The side tent we bought from CI worked great as a mud room, changing room, and a place to leave your shoes at night. We have only had our since April but with this trip in the books we are up to 23 nights or more.
