Hello......this is Jamie and Nancy from Gilbertsville N.Y. We're prospective Camp-Inn in buyers, hoping to place our order in October. Currently we're just trying to decide on which model 550 or 560. We're also checking out other makes.... which I feel might be fine if you didn't know any better. But as I'm posting on this board it seems I know better and I'm not a person who "settles" very easily if at all.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys.

    Regards,
    Jamie and Nan

    Hello to Jamie & Nancy

We are JimH & SueZ 6 years ago we were at the same point as you. We went up to Maine and the only other dealer Allen Hill, where we saw both a 550 and a 560. After Sue got to climb into both units there was no choose - she wanted the 560 and she loved the fit and finish. We gave Allen a list of options and a check for the deposit got a delivery date. The extra room in the 560 is something which cannot be added later. Our 560 is an early Ultra with many of the later option and the folk at Camp Inn have taken great care of our teardrop when ever we make it to a camp inn camp out every other year or so.

    Good luck with your choice

Hello, Jim and Sue! Yeah I think I'm the holdup between the 550 & 560. It's not that the 560 is ugly, and I know it's far more practical, it's just that the 550 is so damn sexy. Otherwise it's been a series of small discussions to get Nan to first consider a teardrop as a viable option.....currently I'm nursing her through sticker shock. I reasonably certain with a little time and maybe a weekend trip up to Maine to see one we can get through that as well.

    Hi!

We paid our deposit a month or so ago after going back and forth about a 560 and 550. We drove a couple of hours to visit Mark and his 560. Although it has an odd shape, I loved the couch. And CI does a wonderful job with the interior and exterior. But after many discussions my husband and I went with the 550. We love the classic shape and the coziness. We can lean up against the back to read or email. To us, if we had kids, the 560 with couch which can be turned into bunk beds, would have been our choice. But with just the two of us, the couch would have become a catch-all place. Without it we are forced to be neat and organized! Definitely try to see the CI trailer(s) if you can. It will help you to make your decision. We all look forward to hearing about your decision!!

    Best,
    Diane

    Hi Diane
My husband and I were the same dilemma but after a trip up to the nest, sitting in both, we decided to go with the 560. We love the couch advantage for reading and relaxing in case of rain, and we are both tall, so the added length is an advantage to us. We also have two sons who are also campers. Our oldest has two children. We were thinking to the future and if either one of our kids wants to borrow the trailer, it would be a good fit for them. I know the 560 doesn't have the classic look but it's not a big an issue with us. Just told Chad to go ahead with the quote, send us the contract, and waiting to send in the deposit. I think waiting will be the hardest part. After lurking on this site and seeing how happy the Camp Inn customers are and how well Camp Inn stands by its product, we were sold!

    Hi Gina,

It sounds like you made a great decision! Congratulations! Waiting is hard...we won't have our trailer until April and then we hit the road as full-timers! We're so excited!

    Hello again Landser

If go up to Maine say hello to Allen for me. If you like to see some teardrops at a camp out there is a gathering in September 5, 6 and 7 at a campground named Mi-Te-Jo which is in southern NH. You could also see our 560 we are about 35 miles west of Boston if you don't catch us at Mi-Te-Jo.

Whichever Camp Inn trailer you choose will be a good one.

Hello everyone, this is the Nan half of Landser. I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I was pretty reluctant to even consider one of these campers, but they seem to be growing on me. Jamie told me of the weekend in NH and we are planning on making the trip to meet some new people and see some teardrops up close. I like the Big Woody but I don't think I will ever sway Jamie away from the Camp Inn. Looking forward to the trip in a few weeks, nice to meet you all!!

Hi Nancy welcome to the forum. My wife was quite reluctant to get a teardrop trailer she preferred a small vintage camper however since we picked up our 560,just two weeks ago, she has been warming up to it very nicely. I think Jamie is correct in wanting to go with a Camp Inn there isn't a better teardrop trailer out there IMHO.

Hi Jamie and Nancy, I felt the same way about the 550. It is so darn cute and I fell in love with the look. I ordered mine the first week of July last year. I planned for a spring delivery and waited 10 months. I went to a meet-up in August and one of the gals let me sit in her 560 on the sofa. I fought with myself for several months before I gave in and changed my order to the 560. No regrets at all. I love being able to sit comfortably and read during a storm or when the bugs get too bad in the evening. If I have cargo I want to carry in the cabin I put it on the sofa so if I want to stop for a nap or the night I don't have to unload the bed before I can go to bed.
My first teardrop that I saw was a Little Guy that had been rebuilt from the bottom up. It had to be completely torn down and all the wood replaced. It was four years old. That was shocking to me. Four years and it was garbage. I believe the Camp Inn is quality. They are building to Marine standards and not RV standards. They use marine plywood not standard or chipboard. I am really enjoying mine.

    Borrow the trailer?

    BORROW the trailer???

LOL, I thought she said she might let someone borrow the trailer.

HAHAHAHA - like THAT is gonna happen....

    :)

I am fairly certain that if I allowed someone to borrow our trailer, the next thing I'd see is the business end of a shotgun, with my WIFE at the other end!!

Sincerely, I love that you are willing to do that. I wonder how many folks here have let someone borrow their trailer.....

BORROW our trailer???!!!! Our sentiments, exactly. I am just hoping that none of our sons ever asks to borrow ours, since we would only have to disappoint them with a big, fat "No way!!" The closest we have come to lending ours, is allowing them to sleep in it, when we needed an extra bedroom. We're just selfish that way!

I'd sooner loan out my tooth brush or under ware.

You guys crack me up! Don't tell my husband, but I used the "borrow the trailer" suggestion as a way to justify the cost. Or maybe he used the same statement to me for the same reason. Either way, think the only way someone will get it away from us is to inherit it... What's that saying? We're spending our inheritance!

    Gina and Bob,

I love this thread; too funny! We don't have anyone to leave the trailer to...no kids, and I doubt my sisters would ever set foot in a camper! And we're basically spending a lot of retirement money on all of this! But, we justify that, by saying we'll be retired, so it's legit to spend this money!

    Happy trails,
    Diane

Shhhhh, Be careful what you put out there. You might have loads of people standing in line to become your best friends so they can inherit.

I'm not ready to lend our trailer out yet either but it is a shame that my son his wife and their three kids can ALL fit in our 560 pretty easily. By the time we are ready to lend it out that probably won't be the case. Grandkids have been having a great time "garage camping" though!
